Mudras are such that long practice of mudras and

concentration upon the sensations and emotions aroused

by a specific mudra will lead to the expansion of

consciousness. By sensations and emotions, the common

variety are not implied; what is implied is the

sensation of 'touch' for example. Continued dhyana on

the specific form of Guru with specific mudra posture,

leads to certain experience of the underlying purpose

of each mudra. There is not necessarily a cause-effect

relation, it is more of a question of preparedness, as

the meaning comes through in a flash, and not as a

result of practice itself. By simultaneously trying to

attain jnanam through deep contemplation, and the

practice of specific mudras, the field will be

sufficiently 'fertile' for the meaning to plant

itself. One does not need to know the meaning of the

mudra prior, the meaning will unfold itself as the

consciousness itself expands. This constitutes siddhi.
