Kancheepuram: A Kancheepuram court rejected the prosecution application

seeking extension of the police custody of Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi till

Tuesday 2 pm. E

Dismissing the application, the first class judicial magistrate-I Uthamaraj

held that the respondent had already been sufficiently interroagated and there

was no need to grant further custody. The Magistrate held it was not necessary

to interrogate the Seer again on the subject. Bank accounts could be perused

for which the presence of the Seer in police custody was not required, he

observed. Earlier, the police had sought extension of the police custody of the

Kanchi Seer citing the intervening holiday and said they wanted to verify bank

accout on Monday and on Tuesday.
