Meaning of the New Navaraatri Bhajan--Neeraja Dalamai--composed by HH Sri Swamji

Just now had the opportunity to listent to Hh Swamiji's new Bhajan on the eve of

Navaraatri.

 

Here is the script of the latest Bhajan posted on the Dattapeetham.com website.

It is a Telugu Bhajan.

 

I just can not explain how beautiful that Bhajan is.....Every word of it

is....as if it is coming out completely wet with honey and sugar from a golden

bowl of prasaadam offered to the lotus feet of Devi!!

OH! JANANI ! NEE PADAME NAA SIRASUNANU

AAKASAMUNA SAAGARAMUNA BHOOSTHALAMUNANOO

NEE MERAPULA NEE NAGAVULA NEE SOGASULANU

I will try to translate the meaning here while praying to HH swamiji.

 

 

MEANING

=======

Oh! the divine mother! today your holy feet are resplendent on my head as lotus

petals.

1.

The glory and greatness/power of these auspicious NAVARAATRI festival nights

is coming out of my mouth through these (following) words----please listen !

 

You are the wisdom![i.e. SARASWATI], you are the consort of lord siva!, you are

so soft natured and are soft.[like the lotus flower and we can relate to Godess

Lakshmi here as she is praised to be sitting on lotus, holding lotus etc.]

 

2.

In the sky, in the ocean, on the surface of the earth----->

recognizing your radiance[ in sky], your blissful smiles[ may relate to the

ocean waves], and your beauty (tokens of beauty like trees, mountains etc. in

nature);

and knowing that they all are positive indications or omens of well-being, bliss

and good things;

I felt ecstacy and am very jubilant and happy.

 

3.

You are godess Lakshmi, You are godess Kaali and You are godess Vaani, Oh!

Mother!

None of the "Angels/deities" equal you in any respect Oh! the spring of mercy!

 

If I introspect and comntemplate on you, you are the Sachcidaananda(the truth

and eternal bliss), Oh! Bhavaani !

 

Some sanskrit words' meaning:

Neeraja = Lotus flower = Neera(water) +ja (born) = that which is born from water

Dala = petal

lalaama = eminent one, beautiful one,anything the best of its kind;

suralu = angels(ones in the heaven), devatas,demi gods,

dhuni = perennial flow out of a fountain head (or continuous flames out of a

fire altar)

 

 

May HH Sri Swamiji bless us all with bliss,peace,wisdom and prosperity.
