Jaya Guru Datta

This is Prasad from Mysore Ashrama.

It is distressing that members of Ashrama are soliciting / seeking donations on

the . I urge

and request people not to seek funds or entertain such requests. The very

spirit of the group is alienated.

Kindly observe.

Jai Guru Datta,

I think that, the Jaigurudatta groups needs to take the following measures:

1. Set guidelines on the usage of this group

(send out usage guidelines to all, and to new members when they join).

has a feature to send special notification to a newly joned

member, this feature

should be utilized.

2. The group is unmanaged. The group owner needs to moderate group activity,

or find a volunteer who can do so.

3. In the least, the group page should contain the following notice:

"PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT SOLICITATIONS FOR FUNDS"

The above measures were implemented for the Global - Datta Avadhoota

Satsangh Sabhaa (gdass) and the Datta Avadhoota Satsangh Sabhaa - Atlanta

(dassa) groups, at the very creation of the groups. see the links below.

Jay Guru Datta.

I am copying and pasting the file that goes out to anybody who joins the

gdass group, as an example of guidelines that can be utilised by the

jaigurudatta group moderator.

If I can be of assistance, please let me know.

Dinesh Sthanki

THE FOLLOWING TEXT IS COPIED FROM THE FILE SENT TO ALL NEW MEMBERS OF GDASS

______________________________

Global Datta Avadhoota Satsangh Sabhaa Group

To Serve, and to Glorify the Guru.

Dear Friends,

Firstly, let me welcome you to the Global Datta Avadhoota Satsangha Sabhaa.

This group consists of Datta devotees from more than one Parampara (please

always keep this fact in mind while referencing any personalities). Lately,

we have had an increase in the number of Datta Devotees joining our group.

Please encourage your friends, and relatives, of like minded interests, to

join our group, as there are plans to invigorate satsangh activity, on a

Global scale in the gdass group.

There are certain objectives in mind that I intend to address, and hope you

will bear with me. My sole objective is Datta Prachaar (what better way than

disseminating satsangh material over the net globally). The issues I would

like to address pertains to Moderation of this group, and are as follows:

1. Step up satsangha activity in this group, without increasing the number

of emails going out to members.

Proposal:

a. Material submitted by members to be collected, by the moderator, and

submitted in a single posting.

b. All material to be submitted, to the group, in a standard format.

c. The format shall identify the Submitter (submitter’s choice: real name,

email address, or a ‘webname’ similar to a penname), and the source with

links if any.

d. The material to be limited to informational, and not conversational type

i.e. no individual conversation between members via the group.

e. The Title of the submitted email shall reflect the subject matter, or

else it will be considered of a nature not pertaining to satsangh, and

therefore the moderator shall not bother to open it.

f. The posted material shall be compiled in a standard format, defined belo,

by the moderator.

g. The format shall include identifying the contributor (as provided by the

contributor), and the source from which the material was gathered, if any.

2. Encourage members to introduce themselves more formally so we can break

the ice and encourage a truly open satsangha forum.

Come on, let’s not be shy, we are all Datta’s children, let us Glorify him

in as many ways as we can. I don’t mean to sound like a religious zealot.

3. Request members to forward suggestions on an on going basis, and to

provide a critique in the event of leaving the group, so the management of

our group activities can be improved.

Format for material submission:

The e-mail subject shall indicate the appropriate subject.

Submitter: The submitter shall provide an identity: email address,

webname, or actual name.

Source: The source of the article shall be provided and can be any or

combinations of the following:

1. Ashram or institution name (remember we have Datta Devotees from more

than one Ashram/parampra).

2. Webpage link

3. Book title, and author

4. Name of source authority if the contents are signed below in title such

as ‘Swamiji’.

Contents: The contents can be a question for members, an article from a web

page, a quote from a book, a link to a sight of possible interest to

members, an attachment of possible interest to members.

Also requesting all members to change their settings to ‘individual e-mail’

if you do not know how, I can do it for you if you post an email requesting

so.

While I encourage everyone to submit material to the group, please do not

flood the system, as moderation may itself become a chore.

Why all this ? So we can have a good time conducting satsangha over the

internet in an organized manner, without a barrage of e-mails, and yet

provide all an opportunity to contribute towards satsangha.

Lastly, ‘Global Datta Avadhoota Satsangh Sabhaa’ gdass pronounced gee-dass.

What’s in the name ? The quality of dass (servant) is what us as

devotees, have to work towards, so this acronym was placed in along with the

idea of a global reach. . Jai Guru Datta to all !!! I hope that you will be

an actively participating member and enjoy the satsangh.

Glory be to my Datta forever and ever.

Datta naama sukha daayi bhajare manaa

Draam beeja mantra nitya japa re manaa …
