Said the Guru , "If I did not go how you would ever see?" "What is it we fail to see when you are with us?" they asked. But the Guru would not say. When the moment of his death was near, they said, "What is it we will see when you are gone?" With a twinkle in his eye, the Guru said, "All I did was sit on the riverbank handing out river water. Guest guest
Interview with Sri Swamiji for "Yoga Aktuell", beginning of July 2004 from Dattamala July 2004, in German retranslated into English. Q: There are several different Yoga Paths. Which path is Sri Swamiji´s main path? Sri Vidya, Vedanta, Sankhya[one of the six classic philosophic schools/systems of India; Kapila is said to have been its founder], Nada Yoga, Tantra or others? A: Sri Swamiji doesn´t follow any particular main path. Sri Swamiji intuitively feels/knows the appropriate path for each person. Would Sri Swamiji please give a short outline of the various different Yoga Margas/paths and explain their differences? Nada Yoga means feeling one with the Divine by means of music. Inana Yoga leads to Oneness with the Divine by knowledge and direct realization. Mantra Yoga is an essential part of Nada Yoga. Karma Yoga means to lead a dharmic/righteous life, loving the Divine. Sri Swamiji performs many religious rituals. Which is the purpose of such rituals? (Homa, Puja etc.), for the development of mankind in general? Most rituals which Sri Swamiji conducts, are personal Worship ceremonies with the purpose, to support mankind in general. The creation of positive vibrations and energies through such (mass-)ceremonies brings great benefit. Why does Sri Swamij visit western countries? Nowadays many people are suspicious about Gurus. They think they can contact their inner self without any help from outside. Why do we need a Guru and how do we find Him? A Guru is above all a very knowledgeable friend. People do cling to the outer personality of the Guru too much in general, instead of clinging to His teachings. This results in leading a life in misery/without happiness in general. It is important to be conscious of the following: Gurus in general convey the many thousand year old teachings about the Divine and about Spirituality. Those who were more interested in the teaching than in the person/the personal life of the Guru, have been receiving the benefits hereof for thousands of years. To meet one s Guru is a matter of good luck and fate. How does Sri Swamiji reach (out to) the people? Sri Swamiji is reached by people. Sri Swamiji is asked for mental and spiritual help, in order to gain strength for life. Sri Swamiji makes use of His Divine intuition and gives counselling as to how people can reach God by music, realization/knowledge or Karma Marga. Sri Swamij is known to touch people by His Music for Healing and Meditation. How does this work? Healing by Music is an endless topic. To cut a long story short: the human body, according to yoga teachings, consists of thousands of astral nerves, which account for the emotional wellbeing of a person. In case one of these astral nerves, in Sanskrit called "Naadi" is out of balance/doesn´t vibrate in its proper frequency any more, music, together with other outer remedies helps to rebalance the person. How come that a saint can be subject to an accident/break his arm, which happened to you three years ago? Does this mean that he has still some karma to get rid of? Everyone has got karma. Krishna died, Lord Rama had to suffer. Each (incarnated) soul that comes down to this earth will have to suffer karma. However, Sri Swamiji, due to His personal inner strength, which was given to Him through Yoga and Music, could perform a full concert in Switzerland only 18 days after surgery. Noone eludes his/her karma. The answering of these questions too is part of Sri Swamiji s karma. end of interview [some time ago read about three kinds of karma, karma due to one s own wishes: this is the kind of karma that saints don´t have any more as they don´t have any desires any more; karma due to the wishes of others: e.g. devotees by their wishes attract a Guru, Guru has to perform rituals, to travel, answer questions in behalf of them; and karma not due to anyone s wish: e.g every physical body that comes into existance on earth is subject to decay and will die one day.] sorry for lack of time cannot review and correct possible mistakes I made while translating.
