....If the spiritual teacher is patting on the shoulder of the devotee, this

means that He has got some work for him/her to do...

to make it clear, then there is work for the devotee, i.e seva.

continuation, as for Guru Mantram:

" as an example Sri Swamiji told the story of a Pandit who had received

mantra initiation by a spiritual Master, but whom deep rooted doubts about the

Guru prevented from concentrating/meditating on the Guru in an appropriate

manner. after ten millions of mantra repetition nothing happened. Thus the

Pandit

got confirmed in his doubts about the Guru.

Other seekers, who were no Pandits, spiritually advanced much more with much

less repetitions, just by their devotional concentration on the Guru.

Sri Swamiji also said that after many devotional repetitions of the name of

the Mantra God/dess, the latter certainly will appear in front of the devotee!

The Humkara (Omkara) Mantra kills the six inner enemies, kama, krodha, lobha,

moha, madha, matsarya) lust, anger, greed, illusion/infatuation, pride,

jealousy/hatered, ]

You should continuously have the vision of your Guru in your mind/before your

inner eye or hear His words reverberate in your ears. Then you could get

concentration and there would be no need to worry about where you are sitting or

standing, or what kind of people are around you. Until you have reached that

state you must continue sadhana/spiritual practice!

Don´t close your eyes for meditation while your Guru is present!(during

Darshan).

at home you can close your eyes and think of the form of the Guru. In the

presence of the Guru you can chant the Guru Mantra with eyes open.

No need to read the mind of a person, you can know his/her thoughts just by

looking at his/her facial expression!

One should clean one s own things, do one s household chores oneself [ not

pay anyone for doing it] after getting up, make your bed yourself, wash your

dishes yourself after meals, etc

then you will lead a long and happy life. But many people don´t do that and

are not even able to pick up a small stick due to their physical weakness.

If one does not clean one s own dirty things(clothes, laundry, plates, pots

etc after meals?) one becomes sick. some devotees bully their wives[making them

do all the housework alone, not helping] and are feeling great while doing

so.

...

Give your body appropriate physical exercise also.

you get health problems if you only sit or stand all the time. go to work on

foot/walk, even if your office etc is 5 miles away.

all our actions should be done according to a strict time schedule/time

budgeting/time management. don´t do everything according to your own whims and

fancies, i.e. only if and when you feel like it.

Some people spend more than they earn. One should have a budget for one s

expenses.

do not worry too much. don´t be overambitious as for financial matters. Don´t

keep/amass too many things in your houses/appartments, that you don´t need.

Try to lead a simple life. Do not long for too many comforts/amenities.

Overambition is very bad!

If you think that only the body suffers pain etc, not oneself, then this

inner feeling/attitude slowly rids one from 90 % of the physical pain. It is

only

the body that suffers pain, not oneself. Sri Swamiji told the story of Sri

Ramana Maharshi, who, during His cancer surgery did not get/want any

anaesthesia. He did not show any sign of suffering!

Some devotees smell very badly according to their consumption of hot spices,

smoking cigarettes etc. You can put on some herbal essence on your clothes

after washing them.

clothes should smell good.

Sri Swamiji is all pervading. some devotees are trying to confine Him to the

Ashrama precincts and sometimes think: Swamiji, stay with me all the time!

Don´t leave me!

No! - Swamiji is Sarvantayami! He is all pervading!

What does search for truth mean? some people visit many Gurus and ask many

questions.

others listen to many tapes. others write? or read many books.

Yet you should think for yourself, what is search for truth? do your work and

serve the Guru in the place you are.

The close friends/relatives do cause us the most trouble usually, not so much

the remote acquaintances/friends/relatives.

Swamiji makes it a point to stress the importance of Pranayama.

Be open to changes in the Ashrama. A noble person is always open for changes,

is constantly adopting to new circumtances and tries to improve

himself/herself on all levels.

Swamiji said He had changed His communication patterns. Formerly He talked

personally to so many devotees. now this is not the case any more. Even if you

are an "old" devotee, you must accept and adopt yourself to the new method."

to be continued Jai Guru Datta
