Guest guest
A small information sharing as I have learnt, The still mind can be further explained this way. There is a small gap between two thoughts which is the silence and this silence has to be felt and the gap between two thoughts have to be extended and that is what the the process of meditation helps as a process and once achieved it will be permenant state of bliss. It requires to focus this mind at one point which does not happen that easily. Rather it is easy to put the mind to think in small circles rather than going wide and wild as it is its original nature. All the "avaiahs" - the organs are always outwardly focussed and they inform the mind and the knowledge what we have called the "Vignyana" or the science is mostly fact based. It requires to actually open up the mind or the intelligence for which the inward focussing is very much required- This is as explained by "Gada Upanishad" When we focus internally what do we focus , as it has been told try to make the thoughts revolve around in small circles and it can be about god, his 'Leelahs'- his acts, our Sadguru, the good things he is doing for us, his peaceful face, the words he spoke to us all these can help try to put the mind in the required circle. It is difficult to achieve, though not impossible. It is a feeling to be felt and can never be described. On the lotus feet of our Sadguru. Guest guest
Jai Gurudatta, A recent reading from "Thaitreeya Upanishad" Meditation is a state where the personality is imbibed at every layer of self and not just the practice of the heart or the mind alone. How can this state be achieved? By actually inculcating the feelings of oneness with the nature and clean thoughts. Clean thoughts is nothing but removing the old and the most of the evil thoughts from our mind. The Upanishad says that it is not only for atttaining the meditation status even for getting the wishes of the world prayer helps. Prayer with self conciousness helps achieve this. Now try this type of prayer actually called as Bhakthi Yoga meditation : (Based on Swami Sukhabodananda's method) Sit in a comfortable position in a silent place preferably in the prayer room. Enter into the Alpha stage of the mind. - This could be achived by closing the eyes and relaxing the whole body. Different techniques could be adopted. 1. Counting numbers from 20 downwards till 1 with a gap. 2. Focusing the attention on the breath. etc. Initially it might be looking difficult since the tendency of us would be to force the mind into concentration which would become difficult. Neveer mind be at peace with whatever the state of mind may be. Alpha state is a thin difference between the state of falling asleep and keeping awake. Even people might sleep or doze off initially at the alpha stage since the body gets relaxed. It requires to train to keep awake. Now once this state is reached when the whole body is relaxed the self could actually be felt- it will not be body or the mind but the subtle difference of self could be felt. Focus this self at the "Anahatha Chakra" - the heart centre, and visualise our Sadguru at this place. Visualise him in his devine form. Feel that the whole body is temple and the heart chakra as the Sactum Sanctorum or the "Garbagruha" where the devine Sadguru is seated. Be with him for some moment. Do not worry about the mind wandering. It is its nature, be calm and have faith that our "Sadguru"is with you. Now with a whole hearted feeling surrender the following things to him at his lotus feet. It has to be a "Bhavana" or Bhava pradhan 1. The weakness of this body and the whole body. 2. The weakness of your emotions and the whole emotions. 3. The weakness of your intellectual mind - the vignyana and the intellectual mind itself. 4. The weakness of the spirit and the whole spirit. Do this with atmost devotion( it will take lot of practice and continuous shraddha to attain this stage) and feel our Sadguru's blessing being showered on you. When you surrender you may do it with some manthras like "Gurur Bhramma, Gurur Vishnu" or "Ganapathi Guru Megham" or the one you feel apt directed at our Sadguru. Once this is over again be with our "Swamiji" for some more moments and if you wish to ask him any questions related to any problems that has been going on in your mind you may do so. Do not try to force any answer. Again place your problems in the lotus feet of our Swamiji and wait for the answers. It might happen that you may not get the answers immediately but in the course of time the answers would defenitely come in some form or other. Again be with the wonderful feeling of being one with our "Sadguru". Then slowly come out to the wake up stage. You can actually feel the difference. The experience is wonderful. Let our beloved "Sadguru" bless us all. Jai Guru Datta Beautifully described. I don't seem to be able to reach that silence ... my mind wanders all over the place ... I bring it back by then looking inwardly towards the third eye area and start counting the breath ... and then the mind just jumps like a monkey from branch to branch on a tree. Hopefully one day I will be able to focus properly. I do play a lot of Swamiji's music ... my favorites being "Inner Healing", "Music of The MysticsHanuman ChalisaCelestial Message". When Swamiji sings "Kalitreya Putitam Brahma, Brahma" I'm transported in sheer wonder and great emotion overwhelms me.
