Guest guest
[sri Swamiji's explanation continues thus:] SELF CONTEMPLATION The capacity to intuit and fathom the mystery of mind is blessed to Man only. Other animals though intelligent, lack this capacity. Therefore man is the author of Realisation of the Self and only he can surmise that there is a state beyond all lamentations and distinctions. Caste or family, senses or objects, or mind or intellect - none of these exists when viewed from the standpoint of Atman.[= Paramatma, Brahman, the Absolute, Divine Self, Siva, Sat-Chit-Ananda]. There is no birth, no death, no bondage, and no liberation either. Sivoham [i am Siva] is the highest experience. Duality is born out of ignorance of the real nature of one's own Self. Now, turn inward and think: Without origin, I shine for ever as Siva Without phenomenal existence I shine for ever as Siva Without name and form, without decrepitude and death, I shine for ever as Siva Without disease or modification and devoid of fire and air, earth and water, I shine for ever as Siva Neiter am I mobile nor immobile, neither beautiful nor ugly, neither virtue nor vice; neither freedom nor bondage; neither united nor separated; neither superior nor inferior I am neither the worshipper, nor the object of worship Instructions and rituals are not for me. Neither have I an abode nor am I abodeless I, Siva, have no mind, no intellect and no senses. I have not attachment or detachment I have never cultivated self-restraint nor religious austerities I have no beginning, middle nor end. Death and immortality, poison and nectar have not emanated from me. I shine for ever as Siva For me there is no waking or dreaming nor any posture of Yoga, nor is there day and night, I shine for ever as Siva I have no Maya and its multiple forms. I am neither a fool nor a scholar. I shine for ever as Siva. Ritualistic injunctions are not meant for me. I am Immaculate and Eternal. I am bereft of inflected words and euphonic combinations. I shine for ever as Siva I am beyond the relationship of cause and effect, time and timelessness. I shine for ever as Siva I am neither short nor long, pure nor impure. I am bereft of enemy and friend. I shine for ever as Siva I am free from emotion and excitement and desire and desirelessness I shine for ever as Siva I have no caste; neither am I an outcaste. I shine for ever as Siva I am free from reasoning and interference. passion and dispassion. I have no wealth or poverty. I shine for ever as Siva I have no merits and demerits and knowable and unknowable. I am Existence, Knowledge and Bliss, indivisible Supreme Beatitude I am, and I shine for ever as Siva This is experiencing the highest and the sublime, and negation of the transient is the starting point. Sadguru's grace reveals this highest experience. Siva appears to the disciple in the form of Sadguru and points out to him the immanence of the Spirit. Sadguru helps to change the outlook. Drshtim Jnanamayim Krtva, Pasyet Brahmamayam jagat - Therefore engage in Self-investigation, then the nonself, the mind, the bundle of thoughts disappear. Afflictions no more bother you. Self-surrender comes and Bhakti is another word for surrender. The ever Pure Consciousness Siva you are. JAI GURU DATTA SWAMIJI
