Guest guest
DycDfw/message/95 Sri Swamiji´s Message (from the book Shiva Kathamritam) This story is narrated to you today, the Full Moon Day, Purnima [see above story about Ghrstisvara Jyotirlinga, link, DycDfw group] On whichever day you listen to or study it, it is Purnima, i.e. it is an auspicious day. Long ago, there was a saintly poet by name Mukakavi who used to worship the Divine Mother every day with devotion. The local King was intelligent but obstinate. On one New Moon Day, the King asked the poet, "What is today s tithi? (particular number of the day of either the dark or bright fortnight of the Moon.) However, the poet was in a meditative mood and he replied absent-mindedly that it was Purnima (Full Moon Day.) Actually the day was Amavasya, i.e. New Moon Day. The obstinate King became very furious and shouted in anger: "I will behead you if I can t see the full moon tonight." The poet prayed to the Divine Mother fervently. To save him, She threw Her nose-ring to the sky, which radiated the cool brilliance of the full moon for hours together. The poet meditated on the Divine Mother as the embodiment of spotless brilliance. As the arrogance and pride of the king were humbled by this divine miracle, he prayed to the poet to pardon him.
