Jai Guru Datta,

I am sharing the advice given to a devotee by Datta Yogi Raja with all

devotees because his answer if apply will help us to become better

devotees. His advice can also be applied to our daily tasks.

> With reference to your letter attached I want to point out that your

> The problem with most people is that they are always worried about 2

> things

> 1. How well am I performing and what others will think

> 2. What can I get by doing this.

> Why not change the focus from "I" to" WE" and why not focus on how well I

> can include others and how well I can contribute to others? Then all

> problems of life are solved. This is true leadership. It is not about

> looking good but it is about making others feel good and making a

> difference to them through what you say and do.

>

> Let me share with you a new experience that happened to me this time in

> Toronto. I gave the concluding speech last week for Sri Swamiji's program

> in the Missisauga Arts center. You were probably there. That is the first

> time I spoke to a large audience of 1200 plus members. I did feel a little

> fear. I was not even prepared for it and I was invited in the last minute.

>

> I just forgot about myself. I said to myself that the audience will

> forgive me for my mistakes so long as I have made a difference to them

> through my talks. I just looked at what the audience will really benefit

> from. So I decided to just sing a little song in my native language - and

> then I just told the audience how to buy the right tapes and how to listen

> to Swamiji's music at home for therapy and healing purposes.

>

> Everyone came and told me that the talk was fantastic - including Sri

> Swamiji and his secretary "this was not said in any of the other concerts

,

> most people only talked about how good was Swamiji's performance". Sri

> Swamiji liked my speech and the points made so much that he called me

right

> away and materialized a gold chain for me. He had not done any miracles in

> Chicago for a whole week.

>

> The success was the result of my surrender and focusing only on making a

> difference to everyone around. This is my central message. This is true

> leadership in any activity and consisted of 2 questions

> " Do I focus on what I can give rather than what I can get"

> "Do I enjoy the process of singing and not worry about others praising me

> for it?"

>

> This can be practiced every moment by everybody.
