LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 50

As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji

“Even in this life, birth and death are overcome by

those, whose mind is established in evenness (towards

all.) Brahman is even (the same in all) and free from

defects and therefore they indeed rest in Brahman.”

Those who have made their mind steadfast on evenness

look on all alike because they have realized that it

is Brahman and Brahman alone that exists in all beings

as the same. As such here itself (Eha Eva,) even in

this life is rebirth conquered by them.

Brahman is free from defects (Nirdosham.) Though it

is supposed by the deluded to be defiled in tainted

beings like dog-eaters, still it remains untouched by

those blemishes. Again, Brahman is bereft of all

qualities like desire, hunger, thirst, etc. They are

qualities associated with the body and the organs.

Since Brahman is consciousness, it is free from all

qualities or attributes.

Therefore Brahman is the same and one (Saman Brahman.)

Hence they who see Brahman as identically the same in

all beings are really established in Brahman Itself.

As a result not even a shade of defect touches them.

For they have no self-identification in the form of

perceiving the aggregate of the body, mind and

intellect as the Self.
