I may cause confusion of species and I should destroy these beings. LESSONS FROM BHAGAVAD GITA – 21 As taught by Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji A question may be asked in this connection, that if Sri Krishna did not have anything to gain, then why He engaged Himself in all those works. What was the purpose of His works? The answer is given in the following two verses: “Indeed, Arjuna, if at any time, I do not engage Myself in action without relaxation, men will, in all ways, follow My path” (Chapter 3, Verse 23). “These worlds would perish if I do not perform work. I may cause confusion of species and I should destroy these beings” (Chapter 3, Verse 24). If the Lord does not engage Himself in work, then the people at large will also do the same thing. They will also abandon their duties and spend their time idly. They will also become selfish and sinful. In any case, there will be great confusion in social life. There will be total destruction of all society and the Lord will be the cause of it. By saying so, Sri Krishna, the incarnation of the Supreme Lord, gives the idea that the Divine Being is always working behind everything in the world. If the forces of nature, the Sun, the moon, the stars and the planets and the air, fire, rain, etc. were to stop work, and if God, the creator of all these works, were at rest, the world will not exist at all. - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.
