is it wonder? It is their nature.

In this stanza Swami MM groups the

population in three categories.

They are

1: learned persons who know the value of knowledge,

2: Those who are interested and would like to learn,

and 3: rest of the others.

How each group welcomes the work is then explained.

1: The learned will feel happy and rejoice over the good written work

which for the first time is giving the facts which were hitherto taught

orally.

2: Those who are interested to learn will commence their learning gladly

through

this work.

3: The last category of persons, due to jealousy being their nature,

will criticize unjustifiably.

Swami MM is happy if learned persons welcome the work though they

will be few in numbers, and those interested commence their

learning.

The last word of the stanza gives a different meaning, though this may

not be the intention of Swami MM.

Bisect the last line as, acharyamo + thanavarkku. The word ‘thanavar’

means asuras.

The nature of asuras is to criticize all good things.

For any standard work the support of wise and learned as well as

the criticism of opponents are essential.
