Sri Pillai Lokacharya's

Mumukshuppadi

Sutra:

127. nIrilE neruppu kiLarumApOlE kuLirntha thiruvuLLaththilE

aparAdhaththAlE sIRRam piRanthAl poRuppathu ivaLukkAga.

Meaning:

Just as a great fire can happen even over cool water, He might

develop anger in His tranquil divine heart due to the great

sins of the chetanas. But He forgives those sins for Her sake.

Sri PBA Swami's Sarartha Deepikai:

For the chetana who has understood one's natural relationship

with Sriman Narayana, what is the need to seek Her for the

purpose of mediation?

The answer is that, just as a great fire can erupt even over

cool water, having seen the enormous sins committed by the

chetanas, He too might develop great anger at them even in

His kind and divine heart. But He forgives those sins for

Her sake. She makes His heart give birth to compassion

through Her advice.

Therefore, even for those who have understood their true

relationship to Him, due to the fear of their past sins, it

is necessary to approach Her first.
