I had heard a lot about the tribal schools run by the Friends of Tribal Society.

They run the very popular 'One Teacher School'. After speaking with the

Vice-President of the Mumbai region & going through their web site

www.ekalvidya.org I was impressed enough to make a humble contribution of Rs

10,000/ towards a 'one teacher school'.

 

Last week I was pleasantly suprised to receive a call from Smt Chandralekha

Roongta (Vice-Presidents) informing me that thecontribution was used to start a

Tribal school in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district. I was impressed by the

computer statement they sent me. It gave name of donor, sponsor number, school

code, village name, Dab (Valamba), teacher name, Saysing Bhamta Vasave, number

of students, 20-10 boys and 10 girls, date of opening and so on. Esamskriti has

decided to make an annual donation of 10k for the school.

 

A bit about Friends of Tribal Society. As off April 2005 they run 14,705 schools
