Hindu-Buddhist joint delegation to visit 21 countries

A pilgrimage through ancient traditions

FOC

The whole world is passing through a critical phase. Destructive

forces are expanding their network. Intolerance is growing and

terrorism is showing its ugliest face. The consumerist and

materialistic western thoughts, like struggle for existence, survival

of the fittest, exploitation of nature and struggle for individual

rights, are gripping the people world over and, hence, people are

facing the dire consequences of these thoughts. At this juncture the

veterans of ancient cultural traditions are feeling the need to save

the world from destruction. Keeping this in view, a Hindu-Buddhist

joint delegation from World Buddhist Cultural Foundation, Vishwa

Hindu Parishad, Jnana Prabodhini and Arogya Niketan under the

leadership of Bhadant Gnana Jagat Mahathero, has planed to visit 21

countries of the world to accomplish coordination amongst ancient

traditions of the world.

The first phase of the delegation comprised of Shri Bhadant Gnana

Jagat Theor (president, World Buddhist Cultural Foundation), Swami

Vigyananada (scholar of Vedic, Buddhist and Indian philosophies),

Shri B.U. Naik (Joint General Secretary of VHP) and Dr S.M. Mahind (a

dedicated worker of Jnana Prabodhini). The delegation visited

Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal from May 7 to June 9. During

the tour the members of the delegation met the spiritual and social

leaders of the concerned countries and exchanged views on different

issues concerning the world today. The delegation was in Myanmar from

May 8 to 18 and in Bangladesh from May 19 to 23. The religious

leaders of India were in Bhutan from May 25 to May 29 and in Nepal

from May 30 to June 9.

In the second phase the delegation is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka,

Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The third phase will cover Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, China,

Mongolia, South Korea, North Korea and Japan. (FOC)
