Guest guest Posted April 29, 2005 Report Share Posted April 29, 2005 Crown Prince inaugurates Radio Nepal function KATHMANDU, April 2: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev inaugurated the 55th anniversary function of Radio Nepal at the Radio Nepal premises here today. Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah was also present on the occasion. Upon arrival at the Radio Nepal premises, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess were accorded a warm welcome by Minister for Information and Communications Tanka Dhakal, Secretary Lokman Singh Karki, Executive Director of Radio Nepal Tapanath Shukla and high ranking officials of Radio Nepal. At the programme, HRH the Crown Prince gave away letters of appreciation to various personalities making distinguished contribution to the development of Radio Nepal, including Janakabi Kesari Dharma Raj Thapa, theatre director Hari Prasad Rimal, first woman musician Koili Devi Mathema, former director general Prachanda Man Singh Pradhan, former deputy executive director Mahesh Prasad Adhikari and programme presenter Laxmi Bhusal. HRH the Crown Prince also presented the Dirgha Sewa Padak to Krishna Bahadur Khadka, Satyaman Pradhan and Prakash Kumar Gautam, completing 25 years of service in Radio Nepal and letters of appreciation to the three leading advertising agencies for the current fiscal year. On the occasion, Their Royal Highnesses observed a musical programme presented by artists of Radio Nepal and inspected with keen interest the studio building of Radio Nepal. Addressing the anniversary function, Minister for Information and Communications Dhakal said as the media have a big role in controlling terrorism and restoring peace and security in the country the media persons should respect the popular sentiment and consolidate their voices against terrorism. Stating that the people have experienced huge relief in just two months following the historical, courageous and popular step taken by His Majesty the King, Minister Dhakal said the confidence and trust of the general Nepali is on the rise, happiness has prevailed, spate of murder and violence is on the decline and thousands of terrorists are surrendering with remorse over the sin and crimes committed in the past while the terrorist group weakens due to internal conflict among themselves. The present government is moving ahead with the target of making the country beautiful, peaceful and prosperous, Minister Dhakal said and urged all political parties to openly protest against terrorism and stand for peace. Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications and Chairperson of the Radio Nepal Board of Directors Lokman Singh Karki said Radio Nepal has remained a friend of the people during the time of happiness as well as sorrow, and has always been dedicated to the nation, nationality, Crown and the Nepali people.
