Netaji was alive till 1985: RSS chief

Press Trust of India

Kolkata, April 22, 2005

Claiming that Netaji was alive till 1985 and did not die in an

aircrash at Taipei on August 18,1945, the RSS chief KS Sudarshan on

Friday demanded extension of the term of the one-man commission

probing the mysterious disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The Justice MK Mukherjee Commission, the term of which expires on May

14, should be sent to Russia by the UPA government and be allowed to

examine relevant papers and documents in the interest of

investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Netaji, Sudarshan

said.

"Netaji did not die in plane crash. He was alive till 1985 and was

known as Gumnami Baba," the RSS chief said at a function for the

release of the organisation's Bengali new number "Swastika".

"When Radhakrishnan was the Indian envoy in Russia he had met Netaji

in Moscow. Jawaharlal Nehru had knowledge of this but did not reveal

this because of his political compulsions," he claimed.

He said that there was no material evidence of the plane crash.

He said, the Taiwan government had informed the one-man commission of

inquiry that there was no air crash at Taipei on August 18,1945, till

date believed to have killed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The commission completed its hearing on February 22 this year with

May 14 as the deadline for submission of its final report.
