Guest guest
Taiwan to open archives to Netaji panel Taiwan to help solve Netaji mystery Press Trust of India Kolkata, February 10, 2005|01:16 IST The Taiwan government has informed the commission probing the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose that it would provide documents available with it about the Taihoku airport, hospital and the crematorium, between August 18 and 24, 1945. Taiwan authorities had earlier informed the Mukherjee Commission that no plane crash took place at Taihoku, the old name of Taipei, on or around August 18, 1945, which is alleged to have killed Netaji. Revealing that several documents were preserved at the National Archive in Taiwan, Justice MK Mukherjee, who visited the country recently, said the authorities had informed the commission that the documents would be sent to the Ministry of External Affairs in 15 days as required by the probe panel. Justice Mukherjee, who heard two deponents at the hearing on Thursday, said that the panel was awaiting several important documents from the Taiwan government by the middle of this month to ascertain Netaji's alleged death. He later told reporters that during his visit to Taiwan he had requested Taiwan government officials to send all related documents from the airport, hospital and crematorium six days after August 18, 1945, when the place crash was believed to have taken place. The commission had also asked the MEA to pursue the matter with its Taiwanese counterpart. The two deponents before the commission during the day - Dr Madhusudan Pal and Nandalal Chakravarty - claimed that the alleged death of Netaji in a plane crash on August 18 at Taihoku was absolutely untrue. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1236837,0008.htm? headline=Taiwan~to~help~India~crack~Netaji~mystery
