Guest guest
Europeans Protecting Cows Viva la Vacca - Italian for Long Live The Cow Buch, Switzerland - Shortly before his death, a farmer made an unusual last request - to save his two cows from the slaughterhouse and put them in a retirement home. The family of the now-deceased farmer even organised a church collection to save eight-year-old Maya and her four-month-old calf Toni, the organisers of the retirement scheme said on Thursday. Reinhold Zepf, founder of the Viva la Vacca organisation, said the family wished to remain anonymous. In return for a fee of about R1 200, Viva la Vacca - Italian for Long Live The Cow - keeps cows from abattoirs and places them on farms. When the retired cows finally get too old or sick, doctors prescribe an injection which puts them to sleep. - Sapa-AP http://www.iol.co.za/index.php? set_id=1&click_id=29&art_id=vn20041203053543148C741896
