Guest guest
The efforts of Mr. Venkataraman in bringing out this new magazine are laudable. He intends to translate Panniru Tirumurai (12 Tamil volumes of an ancient text in Tamil celebrating vedic tradition) with commentaries in English. When it comes out in over 30 volumes, it will be a magnum opus indeed. He has started with a series introducing Tirujnanasambandar in the magazine. Dhanyavaadah. K. Nitya Kalyan is a monthly magazine in English. Background to the publication of the new journal It is a matter of general acceptance that the Vedas form the foundation of sanatana religion, now called Hinduism. The Nalayira Divya Prabhandam and Thevaram are regarded by the Vaishnavas and the Saivas respectively as the Vedas in Tamil. Irrespective of the subdivisions, the tenets of the Vedas serve as the unifying bond of our sanatana religion. The Vedas constitute the common bond uniting all the Hindus. Interpretations may differ but the Vedic Literature provides the basis of our way of life. Owing to the lack of knowledge on the fundamental importance of the Vedas, the unity among the Hindus has been adversely affected. There is an urgent need for providing knowledge of our Vedic Heritage, Devotional Literature and allied areas of knowledge in English becuase a substantial section of our people, especially youngsters, are able to understand these things better in English. This trend is likely to grow further in future. Unless we provide an instrument of communication in English for this specific purpose, the vital linkage may be broken very soon. Moreover, as the Vedas are universal, even the Plant Kingdom has a right to be benefited by it. It is our duty to share what we have inherited with all the peoples of the world. So introducing them in English becomes a moral obligation to us. As a concerted effort in this direction, for providing coverage to all the sampradayas - highlighting the unifying aspects of all but without spoiling particulr sampradaya - an international monthly magazine in English by name Nitya Kalyan has been launched, under the auspices of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. This is a sacred mission rather than just another magazine. This project is also a part of our duty towards the preservation of the Vedas and allied literature. Pujyasri Acharyals of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam released the first issue of the magazine on Vijayadasami Day (23 Octobere 2004) at Madurai. All the devotees of sanatana dharma and those interested in our theological literature are requested to for this magazine and contribute towards the fulfillment of its sacred objectives. Annual subscription is Rs.300 within India and US$24 for foreign subscriptions. All the subscription and advertisement details are thre in the last sheet of the magazine.
