I am forwarding this to a select few people. I would urge this information to be forwarded to all VFA members. Warm regards, Abhijit Abhijit Phadnis [abhijitaishwarya (AT) rediffmail (DOT) com] Saturday, January 29, 2005 5:45 PMVFA-familySubject: A great movement has taken strong roots Dear VFA Members I want to share something important with all the VFA brothers & sisters. I have had the good fortune of attending a “Yoga Sadhana Shivir” of Shri Ramdevji Maharaj in Mumbai. It is still on. He is a great Sanyasin who has devoted his life for the Vedic cause in general and in particular for “Disease free society, medicine free world.” At the age of 14, Shri Ramdevji Maharaj, then a young boy, leaves his home in search of a Guru and in search of Vedic knowledge. He meets his Guru & is trained in Vedas, Upanishads, Sanskrit Grammar and very importantly in Yogasadhana, Pranayama & Aayurveda. At a young age, along with his two friends, Shri Balakrishnaji Maharaj & Shri Karmaveerji Maharaj, he makes the Satya Sankalpa of sharing the Vedic knowledge of Yoga & Pranayama to mankind duly supplemented by Aayurveda. The Mumbai Shivir which began on 26th Jan & ends on February 1, is held once early in the morning and then in the evening with 20,000 people each time attending (40,000 in all) and performing Yoga Sadhana under his guidance. Donation Tickets were sold out for the morning session 4 days in advance. The morning shivir begins at 4.45 am and the evening by 5.15 pm. In 2004, over 4 million people in various parts of India directly participated in these Shivirs and have benefited. The Mumbai Shivir is being relayed live on ‘Aastha’ television channel all over India and 170 countries around the world. Apparently ‘Direct TV’ in the US is also doing it for the first time. It is estimated that in India about 150-200 million people have already been watching his programs and have derived enormous health benefits. Aastha has gone to number one position in terms of viewership when his programs are relayed. He was recently invited to do a Shivir at Rashtrapati Bhavan (the office of the President of India). People have shared at the Shivir some dramatic improvements in some of their chronic ailments which include diabetes, skin diseases, hearing/ vision problems, kidney problems, blood pressure, heart ailments, spinal chord disorders and many others. The most important thing that struck me was his humility, sincerity of purpose, great devotion to the Lord and to serve the humanity. During the Mumbai Shivir he asked for a Bhiksha. He said, give me all your vices and thousands of people vowed to give up tobacco, alcohol and non-vegetarian food. His appeal cuts across narrow sectarian divisions. He is currently raising funds for a project at Haridwar which has spread over 2000 acres but has taken a vow that money will be raised only in India from the Indian people and he will not go abroad in spite of many requests already showering on him. Do visit the inspiring website: http://www.divyayoga.com I urge VFA seniors to see how VFA could collaborate with them and make a point to visit Kankhal, Haridwar during their next visit.
