As good a forum as one can get to present a proper perspective of hindu civilization. Please do get involved. K. 2005 Call for Papers; The 2005 AAR Annual Meeting and Book Exhibit will be held at the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel and the Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 19-22, 2005. Religion in South Asia Section Some topics covered (can be expanded as needed): Teaching Hinduism in the survey course Vastu media and the transformation of religion religion and money vanishing village deities public ceremonial and political ritual dialogue, debate, and verbal contest personal law vs. uniform civil code web-based education yoga and ecology and ethics in South Asian religions media representations of Hinduism Sikh identity embodied religion and performance sacred and profane love in mystical traditions the Bhakti movement -- says who? South Asian religions and the Web South Asian students studying South Asian religions can North American religionists talk to South Asians? We invite proposals for fully developed paper sessions or panels on any aspect of religion in South Asia, including field research, textual studies, and pedagogy. Proposals with a multireligious or interreligious dimension and those concerned with parts of South Asia other than India are especially welcome. Given the special international focus of the 2005 Annual Meeting, we encourage contributions from colleagues in Central and Eastern Europe. Proposals must be made through the online system.
