Notice the description of the wings in this excerpt from the article: Chile - Chupacabras Behind Avian Deaths: "A night watchman was doing his rounds when he saw a strange animal land on the hook holding the streetlight, bending it. The watchman managed to see "something" with wings measuring 1 meter, red eyes and completely covered in fur." It seems that these creatures are able to manifest in the physical world, then relate back to their subtle forms and escape detection.
