Guest guest
Yoga, meditation to detraumatise tsunami-hit kids Port Blair, Jan. 8. (PTI): Yoga and meditation will be put to good use as mental health experts try to detraumatise thousands of tsunami-struck children in Andaman and Nicobar Islands who panicked even after 12 days at the thought of a wall of water chasing them. Memories of the Black Sunday, which changed the course of their life rendering many parentless and many others peerless, will have a long time to be wiped of from the young minds. The blow to the kids's psyche will be soothed by mental health experts being specially called in from a Bangalore institue, Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ram Kapse, said. "Their morale and confidence have taken a severe beating. We are consulting psychiatrists and mental health experts who would employ the yoga and meditation to relieve them of the stress," he said. Kapse said he had vistied many schools during his extensive tour in Port Blair and tried to give a healing touch to the small students. "You have to tell them some soothing words and they are chirpy again. They need careful handling and a great deal of reassurance," he added. http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/000200501080301.htm? headline=Yoga,~meditation~to~detraumatise~tsunami-hit~kids
