India will be superpower, says astrologer Bejan Daruwalla

By 2009, the wars will end, mankind will rest in peace - and India

will

be

on the road to becoming a superpower, predicts the country's most

famous

astrologer Bejan Daruwalla.

 

"It'll be a time when technology and man will come together for peace

and

prosperity," Daruwalla said in an interview at New Delhi's Ashoka

Hotel.

 

"India will start becoming a superpower at around that time," said

Daruwalla, an avid devotee of Hindu god Ganesha who takes the deity's

name

in everything he does and writes "Ganesha be praised" in every paper

he

touches.

 

For a man who wanted to be a poet, a pilot or a sportsman, the

73-year-old, Santa Claus-plump astrologer has come a long way.

 

Millions across India and around the world wake up to Daruwalla's

predictions published in scores of newspapers and magazines every day.

His

predictions pop up on three of India's biggest mobile service

providers

and some of the biggest celebrities in the country regularly consult

him.

 

Even as he readies to release his latest book of predictions for the

next

year, Daruwalla is willing to stick his neck out about a few things:

 

If Sonia Gandhi survives till August 2005, nothing can stop or harm

her.

 

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a Libran and if he stays in power

till

July 2005, he can totally change the country.

 

In his new book, Daruwalla, a Cancerian, has given a special happiness

ranking to each star sign. "No other astrologer has ever done this

because

happiness is such a fluid thing. How can anyone predict it? But I

have,"

he smiled.

 

Other Daruwalla innovations are predictions for space stations,

robots,

gems and stones and even fighter jets. "Astrology works everywhere,"

said

Daruwalla. "In every field, that's what I want to prove."

 

The man who looks at Ganesha at least a thousand times every day said

he

is correct about 80 percent of the time. "No one can be accurate every

time. Hundred percent is only meant for god."

 

But Daruwalla has only one fight with Ganesha. "I fight with him about

the

poverty all around me in my country.

 

"He says, 'Everything must take its own time.' I say, 'No, I can't

bear

to

see all this poverty.' He says, 'Then you are a donkey, a fool. I

can't

help it if you are a donkey'.

 

"I fight with Ganesha but Ganesha never fights with me. If he does,

it's

all over."
