The 10-bed indoor facility provided for the management of chronic diseases is based on the Panchkarma Therapy of Ayurveda. The Center was inaugurated by Shri Ajay Prasad, Defence Secretary, Lt Gen B. N. Shahi, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Dr. S. K. Sharma, Advisor Ayurveda in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and other senior officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services attended the function. The establishment of the Ayurvedic Center at the Army Base Hospital is a pioneering step to integrate Ayurvedic and modern medicines in the Armed Forces. The venture will provide convergence of two different medical systems and enable holistic healthcare and patient-friendly treatment. With its herb-based, cost effective and culture friendly approach, the promotion and acceptance of Ayurveda, a branch of traditional medicine, scientifically and systematically documented for more than 5,000 years, is in keeping with the resurgence of interest in Ayurveda at the international level. The safety and cost effectiveness of the Ayurvedic system of treatment as well as the flexibility of medication and role of dietary management commends Ayurveda in today's scenario. With this backdrop, the functional integration of two diverse healthcare systems under the aegis of the Department of Ayush will play an important role in rehabilitation and restoration, for the Armed Forces personnel in post accidental and post traumatic conditions. On the success of this unique experiment, more Ayurveda units will be established in other Army Hospitals of the country. _______________ Take charge with a pop-up guard built on patented Microsoft® SmartScreen Technology. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca&page=byoa/prem&xAPID=1994&DI=1034&SU=http://\ hotmail.com/enca&HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN® Premium right now and get the first two months FREE*.
