Dr. Ravi Prakash Arya

A Research Vedic scholar from India, presents:

'The Origin and Development

of Intellectual Tradition of India'

Brief Introduction of the speaker: Dr. Arya is a Ph.D. (Sanskrit) from Punjab

University and is currently a Sanskrit Faculty under Haryana Govt. Educational

Service. He has authored 20 books in 36 volumes, that include editing four

volumes of RigVeda, editing of RTH Griffith’s translation of SamVeda &

YajurVeda as also Yoga Vaashista, Valmiki Ramayana. He has published 50

academic papers on Vedic linguistics, Vedic Meteorology, Vedic symbolism, The

Aryan Problem, etc.

Dr. Arya, who is a life member of WAVES, is Editor-in-Chief of the research

quarterly journal, ‘Vedic Science’ and is also Editor-in-Chief (Indraprastha

Zone) of ‘Akil Bharatya Itihas Sankalan Yojna’ (A 5000 years’ of History

writing project). He has widely traveled, and has given talks on over 100

varied topics, such as Vedic Astronomy, Six Systems of Indian Philosophy, Life

after Death, Soul & God, Problems of Chronology in Indian history, etc.

Currently Dr. Arya is on lecture tour of USA and Canada.

Directions: Coming from I-85 S (towards South):Take Clairmont Road Exit and turn

left on Traffic Light, Drive about 2 miles and turn Right on LaVista Road, Drive

about 1 mile and turn left on Huston Mill Road, Drive about 1.5 miles and cross

the Clifton Road. The Rollins building is on left side which is tall 9th floor

building.

 

Coming from I-85 N (towards North): Take N Druid Hills Road Exit #89, turn Right

on exit; Drive about 2 miles and turn Right on LaVista Road; Drive about quarter

mile (0.25 mile) and turn left on Huston Mill road; Drive about 1.5 miles and

cross the Clifton Road. The Rollins building is on left side, which is a tall

9th floor building.

Free Parking: After crossing Clifton Road, immediately turn left and see parking

deck (Michele Street Parking Deck) on the left. Free parking at weekend, gate

World Association of Vedic Studies (WAVES): WAVES is a society, which will

interest persons within and without the Vedic tradition, having sincere

interest to learn and share. It is a multidisciplinary academic society, a

forum for all scholarly activities and views on any area of ‘Vedic Studies’

variously called as Indian Studies, South Asian Studies or Indology. WAVES is

not confined to study related to Vedas alone or to India alone. It encompasses

all that applies to traditions commonly called Vedic - it past, present and

future - any where in the world. WAVES is not a religious society. It is

non-political and is open for membership and for participation to all persons

irrespective of their color, creed, ethnicity, country of origin or any other

WAVES’ Conferences: WAVES has been holding annual conference in India and

biennial conferences in USA. Its ‘Fifth International Conference’ is scheduled

for July 9-11, 2004 in Washington, DC, area. The major theme is ‘Intellectual

Traditions of India’. Seventh India conference was held in Dec 2003 at

Pondicherry University and ‘Eighth India Conference’ is scheduled to held at

Indian Inst. of Science, Banglore. A conference was held in Nepal in July

2003.

Some other Activities of WAVES’: It has publications, ‘Book Awards’, and has
