Guest guest
Haribol Mayeshvar Prabhuji. Dandavats. Jaya Vaishnavas. I wanted to respond to yr valid points.I will try to explain my reasoning in allowing various seemingly off-topic messages through. About the Ganesh Chain letter:Its always hard to monitor all the messages sent to me. esp one titled as a mantra to Ganesh would go thru easily. I did seem to have some good luck though...come to think of it. on the political issues; politics or Raja Niti have always been part of Vedic culture. This Vedic discussion is one of the oldest on the net. When it started there were no real sites that gave an accurate and indigenous hindu perspective on current events in India. Over the years many other groups and sites were created that fulfill this need. I have tried to keep the politics to a minimum compared to how much is sent to the me for posting. But there is a valid connection between modern poltics and vedic culture. just as an example of its significance,a hindu govt is actively supportive of the rights of vaishnavas and their legal authority over its temples, properties and other assets.permits to operate schools and charities are easily attained. India's so-called secular govts have established many stringent laws retsricting vaishnavas from controlling the very donations they recieve from pilgrims. This is enough for many devotees, specifically indian born ones, to have an interest in current events and politics.By being informed and active they can support candidates who are supportive of maintaining vedic culture and its practices and that allows them to use donations solely for the temple's needs. While christian and muslim orgs are allowed complete financial privacy and freedom, hindu groups including all vaishnava groups, must explain and report every single dollar recieved either nationally or internationally. So modern day politics do have a direct impact on the day to day practice of vedic culture. About impersonalists and personalists:The Shankarite view is a valid Vedic philosophy. This is a vedic discussion group and thus it naturally encompasses all areas of vedic civilization ie politics, philosophy, science and the views of all its different branches. If there is a point that needs addressing, all members are welcome to do so. >From my personal experiance I can say that I have seen many "impersonal personalists and many personal impersonalists." Srila Prabhupada personally chose his friend Dr Sharma to be the Principal of his Bhaktivedanta Gurukula in Vrndavan. Surprised by his choice, some devotees questioned the decision becasue Dr Sharma was a known follwer of the Shankaracharya Vedantic line. Prabhupada responded by saying that he chose him because he would teach the boys in his school "some culture." I was one of those students. All the impersonal and cruel treatment we recieved from our teachers...fanatic personalists, was no replacement for the nurturing and kindness of Dr Sharma, the known "Mayavadi Impersonalist". That said, as a firm believer in the Gaudiya Vaishnava Siddhanta, I never post Shankarite philosophy. There is no question about the tglory of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. However I respect all members contributions. In the ancient days, great debates were held over various siddhantas. I believe that the internet is fulfilling this role today. On a technical note, its probably less intrusive to have yr membership settings on daily digest. That way you can get headlines to the messages rather than individual messages. Also some mebers have moderator previledges and none of them are from the same school of thought...but they all love India and Vedic culture. This is all our common theme. This should be the basis of our unity. Yr Servant, Vrin vediculture, "mayesvara" <mayesvara@j...> wrote: > Hari Bolo Prabhus! > > Please accept my humble obeisance's.
