Guest guest
Happy Birthday, Buddha Baby! Friday, 9:45 p.m. at Casanova Every Tuesday night on Haight Street in San Francisco, Cheb i Sabbah spins the music of Asia, Arabia and Africa to hardcore enthusiasts called "Cheb-i-lites." Now on Maui for Buddha's birthday celebration, we get to experience this phenomenon born of world music/DJ innovator of Cheb i Sabbah. Since spinning in Paris in the mid '60s, Chebiji has become legendary in the underground club scene as he incorporates influences of traditional Judeo-Arabic-Andalusian music into his regular live spinning gigs as well as in his role as music producer. So this is all great and everything but again--the Maui Nightlife Planning Committee has overbooked Friday!! Between Cheb i Sabbah at Casanova in Makawao and Lyrics Born at Hapa's in Kihei, how am I going to catch that last set of Crazy Fingers at Longhi's?! Why does it have to be all or nothing over here, hunh?! http://www.mauitime.com/
