Guest guest Posted March 25, 2004 Report Share Posted March 25, 2004 Girls seek Lord Kama's blessings to get a good hubby Friday March 26 2004 00:00 IST PTI KANNUR: Poorotsavam, a unique nine-day festival of Kerala's North Malabar region, is being celebrated from Thursday to invoke the blessings of Kamadeva (Cupid) by young girls during which several Devi temples dotted in the region would host cultural activities. The annual festival that is celebrated from Karthika star till Pooram star of the Malayalam month Meenam is being celebrated to rekindle the prayers of Deva Kanyas to Lord Siva for the rebirth of Kamadeva. During the festival, young girls will decorate their houses with particular flowers to seek blessings of Kamadeva to get a good husband while various Devi temples and other places of worship dotted across Kannur and Kasaragod districts will become the stage for special cultural events like poorakkali.
