Guest guest
We arrived in Delhi 11 days ago. We had 3 days to get acclimatized and tour the city. We saw many wonderful temples and basically Jeffrey chanted his way through Delhi engaging the beggars, sadhus and anyone who would listen. Every time I came out of a store he had a crowd around him ….all enjoying a North American who knew their stories, chanted their Sanskrit and inspired them about their wonderful culture. Our hosts the Maharshi Bhardwaja Society arranged our 25 hr train trip from Dehli to Hyderabad. We traveled with Steven Knapp, Vrin Parker. S.D. Youngwolf and Manish Matel (our gracious guide). We spoke at the "Global Hinduism in the New Millennium Conference" where the key note was delivered by David Frawley. This conference was co- sponsored by the VFA Vedic Friends Association International and lasted for 2 days. during one of the sessions we were whisked from the conference in a government car to speak to about 300 graduate students at a local business college. They were so eager and attentive to both Jeffrey's talk and Vrin Parkers. One young lady sketched a beautiful baby Krishna during the talk and presented it to us after the talk. What has amazed me about India so far is the rapidity at which the can rally a large group of people. They say no problem and so far they really mean it! Last night we had our final dinner together as a group and we were hosted by M.G. Sharyam and his most gracious family. The S. Indian food was incredible. We were only sorry we were whisked away so early! David Frawley leaves for America, Vrin, Stephen and Youngwolf leave for Nagaland and we will stay 3 days more before we leave for Bangalore. Our current host is a young entrepeneur who has just started a TV station called Parampara. In the space of 24 hrs he has arranged to publish a book with us, create a future speaking tour in India, a seminar 2 days from now co-sponsored by the Taj Krishna Hotel (one of the most prestigious hotels in Hyderabad). They will invite about 200 of their elite club members and the TV station will also invite their VIP lists. Title of the talk is Traditional at Heart – Modern in Outlook. Jeffrey will also speak at the closing ceremonies of a scholastic event held for 3,000 young ladies tomorrow during the day. At this moment all we can say is that were have been incredibly blessed with our reception in India and ever grateful to be able to serve in this way.
