Angana Chatterji & co misusing Aurobindo's name

To Angana Chatterjee, I am François Gautier, correspondent in South Asia for

Ouest-France, the largest circ daily in France and the author of several books

on India. It has come to my attention that your California Institute of

Integral Studies uses extensively Sri Aurobindo's name to propagate rabid views

on Hinduism and India, which are gleefully reproduced by Pakistani newspapers

(see below). Sri Aurobindo was a great defender of Hinduism, which he said was

not a religion but a living spirituality. As an admirer of Sri Aurobindo and

the Mother for 32 years, I also object to your mixing them-up with Rudolf

Steiner and all sorts of pseudo spiritualists for whom Sri Aurobindo had very

little respect. I have met Vinod and Sarala Prakash in Washington, two

harmless and wonderful old people, who are looking aftter IDRF and would'nt

hurt a fly. Most of their funds go to relief work or schools for the tribals.It

is good that there a few organizations like theirs, who have at heart to help

Hindus, at a time when Christians missionaries are converting by the hundreds

in India and madrasas encouraging violence and separatism are sprouting like

mushrooms all over th country. But, of course, you have no objection to

these... The trouble with people like you is that you run down your own

wonderful and tolerant culture, while turning a blind eye, or even encouraging

India-haters, as the participants of your so-called "dialogue for peace"
