Guest guest Posted June 12, 2002 Report Share Posted June 12, 2002 NRI wins top US Medal for Science Washington, June 13 President George W Bush presented the National Medal for Science and Honour to 20 scientists, including Arun Netravali, a pioneer of digital television. "Some of the honourees are learning how to battle cancer with new therapies," President Bush said. "Others are advancing our understanding of the Earth and the Sun. Still others are creating new methods for analysing data.'' A scientist at Lucent Technologies and Bell Labs, Netravali said: ''From my biased perspective, I think there is nothing as exciting as science and technology.'' After presenting the awards yesterday, Bush expressed his respect not only for the awardees, but also for the importance of research overall.
