Guest guest
Below is my response to this political cartoon with its typically ignorant view of India's situation. http://borgman.enquirer.com/weekly/daily_html/2002/06/060902borgman.html Dear Editor, The Cartoon(6/8/02 editorial page) ignores alot of facts. Nowhere is mentioned the disastrous effects of China's India policies, Britain's past policies nor the Saudi funding of Pakistan. The constant promotion of the supposed "Rivalry" between India and Pakistan is misinforming. Its like comparing America with Nicaragua. Its the British created, Saudi funded and Chinese empowered Pakistan that is threatening India. Ignoring these facts, directly contributes to the tragedy. The real rivalry is between China and India. In its 30 yrs as a nuclear power, India has a good track record. America and Russia have caused nuclear disasters such as Nagasaki, Three mile-Island, Chernobyl etc and have developed thousands of Nukes. Neither have shown the restraint of India's leadership. After just one domestic attack, America invaded Afghanistan. (Ironically, Afghanistan was formerly a major Hindu kingdom of India, called Gandhara.) India, after losing over 50,000 citizens to terrorism, has held back in the name of world peace. To add insult to injury, any neccesary defensive moves by India are obscured by the media as militancy. While being misrepresented as Hindu nationalists, India's Leaders have shown the world the true democratic values of Hindu civilization. Hoping for Peace, India gives Pakistan every oppurtunity to make amends. In recognition of Hinduism's ancient tradition of honoring ability over caste etc. Vajpayee has invited a Muslim to be India's President. In fact, in the current political climate, India's restraint is incredible. If anyone is worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize, its India's current leadership.
