Guest guest Posted August 23, 2001 Report Share Posted August 23, 2001 India world's 2nd biggest arms buyer, US leads in Sales WASHINGTON, Aug 22 (PNS): India signed a $4.8 billion global arms deal last year, second only to United Arab Emirates while US led the arms sellers accounting for 18.6 billion dollars, an American Congressional report has said. UAE, which purchased 7.4 billions dollars worth of arms was placed before South Korea, which penned 2.3 billion dollar worth global contract, it said. It said the second and the third in the sellers list were Russia with 7.7 billion dollars of the entire chunk and France 4.1 billion dollars. Germany's arms sales stood at 1.1 billion dollars, Britain 600 million dollars, China 400 million dollars and Italy 100 million dollars, reports PTI. End.
