Topic: Houston Vikasa Tarangini, July 02 Meeting

Time: Wednesday, July03.02, 7:30-9:00 PM

Place: Home of Kumudini and Jeevan Pulijala

 

We have assembled at the residence of Kumudini and

Jeevan Pulijala. We had a group chanting of Guru

Parampara, Lakshmi Ashtotram and Vishnu Sahasra

Naamam.

 

Padmakant Khambhatiji gave a talk about "Shree Vachana

Bhushanam" by Sri Pillai Lokacharya Swami. Shri Vachana

Bhushanam is a the primer for Shri Vishnavites. Jagat

Guru Lokacharya Swami has described six founding

philosophies in Shri Vachan Bhooshan.

 

1. Opulence and Compassion of SriMahaLakshmi in

protecting and recommending Jeevas to Srimannarayana

2. Surrender( Prapatti, sharanagati) to Srimannarayana

3. Activities of a surrendered devotee

4. Service to Guru

5. Nirhetuka Krupa, Unconditional compassion of Srimannarayana

6. Total faith in Guru who can emanicipate disciple from the

prangs of Samsaara.

 

The talk was well received by attendees and lot of us

came to learn about such a great scripture.

 

Jeevan Pulijal gave a brief talk to raise the curiosity

of devotees about the greatness of Shree Bhagavad

Ramanuja's Sharanagati Gadyam, helping a devotee

towards the path of surrender to Srimannarayana. We will

discuss more about this wonderful Gadyam in future

meetings.

 

Shreeman Thatha Chari, Meenakshi Temple priest gave a

very approriate talk in Telugu about an easy way to

realise Bhagvan. He quoted from Taitreya Upanishad

about seeing God in your Mother, Father, Teacher and

Unexpected Guest ( Maatru Devobhava, Pitru Devobhava,

Acharya Devobhava and Athiti Devobhava). Sri Thatha Chari

Swami is an effective speaker and his talk was very

impressive.

 

The hosts Kumudini and Jeevan Pulijala were gratified

by a good turnout and spontaneous participation of all

devotees in chantings and bhajans. Jeevan and Kumudini

consider July as a very special month, they feel their

house was sanctified by Vishnu sahasranaam chantings

by our devotees. Let us pray that Guru krupa and

Srimannarayana Kataaksham will always uplift our Vikasa

Tarangini.
