I personally know many priests who are totally self- (or God) motivated and do these things no matter what the environment... However, for the masses, it is the temple visitors who must set the standards....for the most part, priests in the US are very clean and always wear good quality clean clothes...and most do ritual with great care and correctness...... (typically double the length of some temples in India...) The situation can be nicely related to the computer industry....people want to have good quality computers...but when a company produces what they want then they will refuse to pay for it and the company goes our of business.... if the temple goers of India will accept only proper performance from persists AND they are willing to give them dignified salary to support that performance then that is all that will be seen...People in America demand it AND they pay for it...so they get it...it is that simple... If a priest does not perform rituals properly or he is dirty or he does not wear clean clothes in America, he will soon be on his way back to India.....Or at least, when he "visits" India he will not "return...."
