Guest guest
We recently had a discussion in Chicago on the following topic, and various groups voiced their opinion. --------------- Your Identity. Your Community. Discussion Topic: "Towards all beings I am the same; I hate none, nor hold any dear. Those who worship me with devotion live in me and I in them." Gita 9:29 ----------------------- My Question: But I think I read somewhere, that towards all souls he is the same, but his devotees are very dear to him. (More dear than others.) I humbly request HH. SrIman nArAyANa rAmAnuja chinna jIyar to elaborate on this. And other qualified members to express their view on this. Guest guest
Priya Sriman Danji! jai Srimannarayana! After a long time we are able to reach you all. We are feeling very uncomfortable with the phone lines here at sitanagaram, Andhra Pradesh. We think now it may stay for some time. The questions we got did not replied yet, due to same reason. New we will try to clear them one after one. Latest question you have sent is About the compassion of God towards His devotees. According to Bhagavadgita He loves His devotees more than anything else. He goes to the extent saying that the devotees of Mine are notonly just devotees but they are My very Atmas. In 7th Chapter He declares that 'jna:ni:thu A:thmaiva Me: Matham' We know that a body cannot sustain without A:tma(soul). If there is no Soul, then it becomes a corpse. So we love ourselves (the soul) more than anything else in the world. So also God also declared that He loves His devotees like a body takes care of its own A:tma. Then Arjuna was shocked and questioned Lord Krishna that How far it is good to say that Lord Himself also has a Soul to Him, as against the Sastras declaring that He Himself is alone is in-dweller of all the souls. Arjuna said "O lord! I cannot accept that you had any soul to you, for You are the soul to all the souls. Contributing his commentary to the Ramanuja Bhashya of Bhagavadgita, Sri vedantha desika Swamy comes out revealing the inner decision of Lord Krishna, "let anybody or Vedas accept that I too have Jna:ni:s as My Atmas or not, THIS IS MY FIRM DECISSION 'ME; MATHAM'.This is how Lord loves His devotees. In Srimad Bhagavatham, Bheeshma the Great warrior when he was on the bed of arrows and when Lord Krishna along with all the Pandavas visited him, bhi:shmacha:rya, prayed to Him in a very beautiful slo:kas, which is called "Bhi:shma Sthuthi". It has 11 slo:kas. One among them, was really wonderful and connected to our subject now. Bhi:shma says 'swa nigamam apaha:ya math prathijna:m, ritham adhikartum avaplutho radhasthah" It says O lord! we both made oaths against each other. But to save my oath and make me great, thus, to show your DAYA on me and glorify your concern towards your devotees, You have given up Your pledge and wore your Divine Discus in your hand, to kill me. I am the greatest devotee of yours. Come, let Your divine discuss occupy on me.' There are somany instances like that in Itihasas to show the concern of Lord on His Devotees. ------------------ How about the programme for the forthcoming Acharya Thirunakshatram? We will try to send the message or some person there. Mr. Venkatesa Iyengar, may visit again during that time. We think he reaches there during that time. Mangalasasanams to all. =chinna jeeyar= Get Mail - Free email you can access from anywhere! /
