In Kathopanishad YAMA says " Naishaa tarkena.....prahtahh"

O Nachiketa! This secret knowledge i not obtained by means of any

intellectual, logical discussion or interpretation by anyone. It is

realised by a real guru. You have come to me with a fully attentive

mind and a strong determination that you have become such a realised

one. May we find more seekers of your kind.

Death is certain for any living being. In spite of death being a

common phenomenon seen in the world everywhere, the process of death

remains a deep mystery due to the thick crutain that separates this

life from the after-life.

The belief in (but with total ignorance of men about) after-life is

directly responsible for the fear of death. It is the fear of the

unknown ! Those who are afraid of this stage prefer to disbelieve

and work towards that goal of strong rrejection of after-life with

their self-insufficient logics.

And yet this fear is inescapably inherent in us. Indifference to

this question or mere prayer to God they believe in, is the most

common alternative. Yet another class of men in the past resorted

to penancec seeking absolute deathlessness to their physical bodies

and achieved only stipulation of the most improbable conditions for

death. And yet these conditions were al certainly satisfied when

they had to meet with death.

They, thus lived all the life in their much needed self assurance

against the end. After all they proved to this world only the

futility of a mere long life.

Purely philosophical literature on this subject does not given any

insight or even a mild experience of this mysterious truth. In our

Upanishadas there is tactic description of after death details.

But the real idea behind the philosophy of our Upanishadas,

particularly Kathopanishada, is conquering death not merely by

continuing to live in this physical body but continuing to live

beyond the body, acquiring mastery over oneself, living in a higher

world or worlds of knowledge, without the fear of death again and

attaining salvation from the cycles of death and birth.

A Path of salvation after the conquering of death to be practically

followed by the soul beyond its body is definitely indicated in many

of our Upanishadas.
