Guest guest
Sub: Open letter of Appeal for urgent support to all devout/religious/theistic Indians against the Black Magic Bill : 2006, a draconian law targeting faith and theism. Dear Sir/Madam, The Government of Maharashtra is out to create history by enforcing a "revolutionary" law upon all devout / religious / theistic citizens of Maharashtra State. Having been entitled the sweet name of "Eradication of Black Magic and Aghori Practices Bill 2006", the proposed law is on the verge of being passed in the upper house of the State Assembly, which begins on the 13th March 2006. This Law criminalizes any kind of faith. Some of the clauses within this law are so arguable and generalist that it makes them totally dependent upon the implementing Police Officer to decide their meaning. Some of the deep implications of the clauses included in this law would mean that all Religious literature like the Vedic Scriptures, Upanishads, 18 Puranas, Biographies of Saints, the Christian Bible and the Quran of Islam would be henceforth questioned for their correctness on basis of modern science and thus banned. This makes the law "anti-faith" and moresoever likely to be misused in majority of the cases especially against Hindus. The Police would have many more uncontrolled powers. Though the name of the bill suggests that it is intended to eradicate Black Magic, it is not true. Many legal experts have clarified that under the name of black magic, this law could actually threaten Faith in God and any Divine power. Most importantly, all the crimes listed under this law have already been covered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The very identification of the need for this law or the motive behind it is highly suspicious. The details of this proposed law had been kept a secret by the Government and all kinds of dicussions and debates even in the Parliament were curbed by the Government on the basis of majority. All this leads to arousal of suspicion in the Government's motive. In short as you can see above, the law would enforce "Scientific Authority" upon Religious or Spiritual Scriptures and beliefs of the theists and make them disbelieve in their own faith. Absolutely scientific talibanism in the true sense! A detailed expert analysis of the law has been published at http://www.hindujagruti.org/bill . We urge you to have a look at above url and read the detailed Expert Analysis about the law and its implications on Religious and Theistic Freedom. With the noble aim of safe guarding the spiritual and religious freedom of the theistic section of the society we solicit your active support. What you can do ? Guest guest
"We are talking about a law in India that is to forbid any practices of black magic and aghora as well. Crimes have been conducted in the name of black magic and satanism, just like crimes have been triggered by politicians who have misused major religions such as catholicism and islam. I believe that anyone who misuses an idea and hurts the universal laws of democracy and the humand rights should be punished. But to forbid the belief in a certain ideological system without any particular reason is a fact worth of wonder. Can you set a limit to a mind? Can you censor my thoughts? And how will you do it? My questions are: - How will the government of India define the term Black Magic? How will it define the practices of Black Magic that are on their greatest part purely mental and psychic? - Aghora meaning the fifth face of Shiva, is a great part of the Indian Philosophy, Tradition and Mythology. How can it erase such important parts of the past great indian civilization due to an unknown, inexplicable and unreasonable fear? - How will the prohibition of all "evil" practices prevent real black magicians from carrying forth their work? - Doesnt the Indian Government have more important issues to attend to than creating questionable mechanisms of public misuse?" Guest guest
The Indian Govt is reading too many Harry Potter novels! Most of these self confessed "Tantriks" use parlor tricks to scare innocent people- and as such can be arrested under any number of existing laws. Real Tantra is the scientific study of the universe- done with Scientific laws that common people may not understand or fear- like they would fear a scientist wearing a lab coat and working with smelly chemicals. Of course the Scientist may be builing an atom bomb, so will you ban all scientists then? But as Harry potter fans know, real Black Magicians can do magic to not be caught or seen. So who will they catch?
Guest guest
Hi, you are absolutely right. I expect this whole law to fail and the organisations of human rights to respond sooner or later.
