Good point as always babaji- you are one person in this club who knows what he

is talking about.

One of the most important dreams of humans is to become immortal, or

live for a long time. People try creams/surgery to stay young, some

people are stupid enough to be cryogenically frozen, and companies

like Microsoft say in a few years you will be able to download your

brain on internet, and indirectly live for ever. The normal(Western)

folly of thinking the mind and soul exist in the Organic brain!

All these wishes have one aim- to live forever, to cheat death. But we

are already immortal! as the real us- the soul- never dies. But we

forget this and get stuck in the world created by us, and like drunks

walk in the wrong direction, towards a cliff. Now and then Mother Kali

slaps us real hard to wake us up. The smart ones come to their senses,

and start a slow painful walk towards the right path, but most of us

get offended and blame the world/God/Govt. for our misery. Like the

drunk, we are destined to fall, and destined to make the same mistake

again and again and again and again.....

I remember an excellent line in the movie the "Bulltet proof monk".

The monk tries to teach moksha to an ordinary guy. So he asks him- why

do hot dog buns come in packet of 8, but hot dog buns in packet of 10?

The day you answer this, that day you will become enlightened. The

hero thinks and thinks, but cant answer.

In the end the hero figures it out. He says that eating a hot

dog(moksha) is our goal. It has aleady been decided that we will

achive the goal(achieve mosksha/eat a hot dog), but we shouldnt expect

the path to our goal will be to our liking or easy. We should be

willing to change, be flexible, because we already know that we

destined to win. The path has already been decided, which just have to

be brave enough to walk on it.

So when you see death, dont be saddened, or angry. Remember, you are

already free and immortal, so enjoy the path to moksha. This is the

way of the Tantra.

Thanks shanracer...and can you tell why every being wishes to be

immortal ?

Why we try to control everything?

Why we always try to make ourselves happy?

perhaps in the answer to above question, lies the secret of our being

I think the reason is we identify too closely with this body. Our soul

and real ego(compared to false ego of this body) knows we are immortal

and masters of the universe. But our body ego misunderstands what the

soul is saying.

I am reminded of stupid people who watch serials on TV and say "That

person is so evil! Or, she is an ideal sas/bahu". They fail to realise

its all an act to entertain us. So also is this world an act.

Mahakali pulls the strings, and time(kaal) writes the scripts, but we

think we are the ones in control.

Another story. A man is sitting on a donkey, going around the town

asking "Have you seen my donkey?". We are like that- we want power

over the universe, immortality- but we already have that. We waste

time looking for that which already have. No Wonder God laughs at us!

Then there are the Gyan(Jnana) Yogis, who say Neti Neti- there is no

donkey! We never had a donkey! If we pretend there is no donkey, we

will achieve Nirvana!

Jago! Follow the path of Tantra. The best way to control the universe

and master is to understand how it works.... Not how we want it to

work, but how the real masters of the universe, the eternally dancing

duo of Shiv-Shakti, Light-darkeness, Conciousness-Energy, Purush-

prakriti make the universe dance to their tune.

Its a hard job, like studying for MSc when you are 10 yrs old, but

unlike in school, we can cheat! Shiv Shakti are always willing to help

us- either directly or indirectly via a guru.

But like I said in my last mail- it is already destined we will pass

this test(though some faster than others), so enjoy the path- the path

of Tantra.

Babaji I found this beautiful translation of Ashtavakra Gita on the web:

Ashtavakra said:

Knowing yourself as truly one and indestructible, how could a wise man

possessing self-knowledge like you feel any pleasure in acquiring

wealth? 3.1

Whether feted or tormented, the wise man is always aware of his

supreme self-nature and is neither pleased nor disappointed. 3.9

The great-souled person sees even his own body in action as if it were

someone else's, so how should he be disturbed by praise or blame? 3.10

Seeing this world as pure illusion, and devoid of any interest in it,

how should the strong-minded person, feel fear, even at the approach

of death?

Who can be compared to the great-souled person whose mind is free from

desire even in disappointment, and who has found satisfaction in

self-knowledge? 3.12

Hmmmmmmm, I can only guess.

I think the analogy of circles within circles may explain false ego-

The outer most circle is the Divine- The Shiv of Tantra and Brahma of

Vedanta, the Final being. Within that circle are lower forms of the

Divine, forms that know they are one yet have separate identities.

They arent diffrent from the divine, but appear diffrent to fulfil

certain functions(Kali-destroy the old, Saraswati- create new and

beatiful).

then there are smaller circles of demi gods and diving beings, that

can feel the Divine, but still have their ego, and sometimes arrogance.

Lowest are us- we have little or no contact with the divine- like

little birds that are born blind and have to wait for a few days

before they can see. For us unfortunately, this may take thousands or

millions before we may see the Divine Light.

So the false ego is the lowest circle, which like the frog that lives

in the well, cant even imagine the big sea. The divine is all around

us, but we can only see the narrow world that we ourselves build- our

own egoistical view of the world, that makes us more blind, but

blindness that we prefer to the light.

Osho got it right, I think. He says in sciprtures, Gods would come

from heaven to Earth, as they got bored there. But no demon came from

hell to visit Earth! This is because we like misery, and avoid true

happiness.

False ego is the dark glasses we wear that prevent us from

seeing the Divine- but the Divine still manages to shine through.
