Sadgurus and saints plays an important role in this.

They increses devotion so that these gods can take

incarnations also make it convenient for the deceples

to get their progress in spirituality.

Sadguru is said as,

Guru: brahma Guru: vishnu Guru: maheshwara,

Guru: sakshat Parabrahma tasmai Shri Guruve Namaha

Guru is Brahma, Guru Is Vishnu,Guru is Shiva,

He is the Parabrahma (the supremo) Let my salute be

there to such sadguru..Sadguru is the one who have

reached the nullification status,or the status of

supremo.

Brahma can not go for Vishnu form, neither of the two

other gods.Since they have choosed heir form. These are

higher level plane gods and are transparent to

supremo, Which offers them lot of powers. These supreme

gods choose to incarnate in human body and finish

their individual existance. These are as equal to

sadgurus in the divine forms. There are number of

shivas in Kailas the plane of Lord Shiva which are

having Sarupya muktis..

Only sadguru can choose if he wants to be at such

stage or leave any of these forms.

Sadguru in human form has all time access to the

supremo (omnipresent and omnipotent) which makes him

different from divine bodies.

He is respected in all lokas and is obeyed by all

these divine gods. Therefore if says something to

happen it has to happen, which is said as "Guruvakyam

Brahmavakyam".

If any body achieves liberation he is invited into

heaven and the residents perform pooja and satkar to

the liberated one.Large line of various gods comes to

see such sadguru and to have his blessings.

The sadguru knows many things but doesnt discloses

them to avoide the diversion of focus of deceple.Hr

says just do your sadhna, and let the things move.

-----------------------------

Evil was the very first creation of Brahma in the process of his Creation.

(Srimad Bhagavata, 3rd Canto, Chapter 12, V. 2-3)

Brahma at first created five modifications of ignorance. These are:

1. Tamas: not having knowledge of one's own nature,

2. Moha: the association of sense of ' I ' with the body,

3. Mahamoha: Keen desire for enjoyments,

4. Tamisra: anger at the obstruction of enjoyments,

5. Andhatamisra: feeling of total loss of oneself in the loss of objects of

enjoyment.

Again in the 4th Canto, Chapter 8, V. 2-5, Brahma's Evil progeny is

described as follows:

"2. Adharma had Mrisha (untruth) as his wife. She gave birth to Dambha

(hypocrisy) and Maya (deceit). These two became united as husband and wife,

and they had their son the Rakshasa Nirriti, who was himself without issue.

3. O Vidura! Dambha and Maya had also as their progeny Lobha (greed) and

Nikriti (obstinacy). From them Krodha (anger) and Himsa (slaughter) were

born. They gave birth to Kali (evil) and his sister Durukti (foul speech).

4. Kali begot in Drukiti Bhaya (fear) and Mrityu (death0 and these in turn

begot Yatana (intense pain) and Niraya (hell). 5. O pure one! I have thus in

brief expounded to you the Pratisarga - counter evolution based on Adharma

which led to the degradation of Jivas. If a man seriously listens to this

line of progeny three times with a view to avoid them at all costs, he will

be able to overcome the evil of heart and attain great virtue."

>From the above, those practicing these evil deed, one can figure out whose

progeny they may be!

What purpose does Evil serve?

Some times Evil may help the Jiva from wandering from its path during his

journey through his Prarabdha by building road-blocks along the diversions

or distractions (good or bad), to keep him straight on the path.

The same is true in our journey towards the TRUTH.

I think evil does have a role to play, in spite of the fact that it

is very distasteful when we confront it, but many times when we look back we

realize that it helped us to stay on the path.

MY Pranams Swami ji,

Thankyou very much for replying to my long un-replied question.  It

was really an informative post about birth of evil.

I am sure kali mentioned in the context is not our Mother Kali!!

YOu very rightly said evil has a role to play.  So with your

explanation of evil, can we take evil not as EVIL, but a tool in our

progress??

Dear Babaji,

I am still sifting through my Feb. mail, that is the reason for delay.

Good and Evil are relative terms. Good has no meaning without evil and vice

versa. Our apparent existence is a relative existence only. Father is

relative to son, son is relative to mother, wife relative to husband,

brother relative to sister, friend relative to foe, death relative to birth

and so on. Even Brahma the Creator is relative to Siva the Destroyer only.

In this relative existence of ours, good and evil must co-exist side by side

simultaneously. When there is imbalance between the two, perhaps Krishna

comes in the guise of President Bush to set things right, who knows? The

only Absolute thing in this Creation is the name of God.

I think we need to distinguish Kali (evil) from Mother Kaali.

Is Evil a tool. That may be too much of a simplification. But one thing is

sure that in this creation of the all wise Lord, there is nothing

superfluous, every thing must have a purpose. We might imagine that the

world without mosquitoes may be a happier world, but perhaps the Prarabdha

of Jivas may not be completed without them. If we had stung someone in the

past, it must come back as a mosquito to square its account. If we crushed

an ant in our past life, it probably will come back as an elephant to take

revenge. God alone knows the purpose of His Creation.

Namashkar,

Acc. to various sources, the Brahm creates the World, then covers

himself with the veil of maya. Then he likes to discover himself.

If there was no pain/evil, Jivas would be so happy with themselves

they would never bother at Self Realisation. For true progress is made

only in pain. As Sri Aurobindo said,

"The Titans(Demons) are mightier than the Devtaas, for they choose to

bear Gods wrath. The Devtaas could only bear the love of God, but the

Titans can bear Him in pain and happiness. "

Another gem from Aurobindo:

"Death and pain are a constant reminder to the soul that it has not

yet reached the Divine Perfection, the state of Perpetual bliss;"

Evil reminds us constantly that the World we have built around us

never brings true happiness. It reminds us not to get too meshed in

it, and to strive for perfection. More importantly, it reminds us that

the Soul is ajay, that the Self never dies, nor can it be tortured or

burnt or cut, like is said in the Gita.

In truth it is pain and misery that either makes us stronger, or

destroys us. But even when it destroys us, it makes Us the stronger.

For the Soul sees that the pain is just a game of the Lord to test us,

to push our sahan shakti. For when the game finishes, the Master

removes his mask and laughs at the false pain the soul felt in its

false body.

Evil also brings out the best in men, for the Veer, the brave get a

chance to battle and reap glory, all the while doing the Work of the

Lord. At such times, the Lord guides us, and doesnt allow imperfect

emotions or hidden cowardice to let us back away, like he refused

Arjun at the Kurukshetra.

So thank God for evil, for it drags the Lord down to Earth, and give

us his blessing in our battle against our own inner demons.
