Guest guest
Dear babaji, Bhai, pura padho na, This verse is from "Sankhya" one of the 17 paths told by "Lord Shri krishna", The meaning of this verse is "those who do work with equality (endowed with spiritual intelligence) (samabudhdhi and atmanatma viveka)in both good and bad karmas. This work attached with knowledge of self permanenet atman (the truth of the "aham" )becomes yoga (by /off skillfull work).(in simpliefied way we can say that those who understand who "i am", will never get involved mentally in the process of the material things, since these are not permanent, they will remain in pleasure state and let the work(routine jobs or religious doings) happen with their involment. only until the work is over.=50 Very next verse says, Do work with intellect but leave fruits by mind, by this they be freed from deaths and births and will go towards permenent status.=51 It also says "karmanyevadhikaraste" do work without expecting fruits means what?you should not have greed, which is one cause of karma creation, and work without expectation,so that mind is freed from the thoughts and further impressions the "chittasanskaras", are stopped. The sankhya is understanding the truth of atman which is permanent and never dying. This atman only changes body as clothes.Under sankhya we have to understand that we have only to perform our duty irrespective of the desires of the outcoming results. The mental post involments is not nessessary. This post-involvement creates chittasanskaras. Lord says understand the permanent and temperary and dont get thoughtly(internally) involved in the karma's final results, always be in understanding of your true nature. This doesnt mean you work without thoughts.Do the work with all of your intellect and mind, but forget what will you get out of it. This is spiritual method. He says do you duties properly so that they wont remains incomplete and creat chitta sanskaras. This ultimately indicated the "chittasanskaras"the impressions, should not be formed. Lord Shri Krishna is saying how they can be stopped. He knows arjunas situation and making it more and more simplified by telling him many of the methods which will bring his courage back to battle. While Lord Shri Patanjali is methodical, direct and focussed and has a single path of attainment. he says these chittasanskaras are the obstacles and the samadhi(the status of nullification) can be attained by sidetracking these chittavruttis. Both of them are related to chittasanskaras, only at face they seems to be different. Lord krishna is not saying doing work efficiently,He is saying doing work under samatvabudhdhi, equality and totality, will be a a yoga by skillfull work. Tasmat Yogay yujyaswa Yogaha karmasu Koushalam Attached with that becomes Yoga of skillful work. verse 51 itself is an answer. --- Baba ji <beirut_ka_baba wrote: Zara khol kar samjhao bhai...on one side it > says..No vritti is > Yoga..and krishna says..doing work efficiently is > Yoga...both are > aparently opposite > > love > baba > > > >
Guest guest
Dear babaji, The sankhya further reminded me of "Nirvan Shatak" by Lord Shri Adi Shankaracharya" The meaning as belwo, (Manobudhdhichittani Ahankar naham) I am neither the mind,Intelligence, ego nor chitta. Neither the ears, the tongue,Nor the senses of smell and sight.Neither ether nor air. I am chidanand(permanent pleasure)roopam Shiva and shiva only I am neither the prana,Nor the five vital breaths. Neither the seven elements of the body,Nor its five sheaths,Nor hands, nor feet, nor tongue,Nor other organ of action. I am chidanand(permanent pleasure)roopam Shiva and shiva only Neither fear, greed, delusion,Loathing, nor liking have I.Nothing of pride, or ego,Or dharma or liberation.Neither desire of the mind, Nor object of its desiring. I am chidanand(permanent pleasure)roopam Shiva and shiva only Nothing of pleasure or pain,Or virtue or vice, do I know.Of manta, of sacred place,Of Vedas or sacrifice. Neither I am the eater,The food or the act of eating. I am chidanand(permanent pleasure)roopam Shiva and shiva only Fear or death, I have none,Nor any distincton of caste. Neither father nor mother,Not even a birth, have I. Neither friend, nor comrade.Neither disciple, nor Guru. I am chidanand(permanent pleasure)roopam Shiva and shiva only I have no form or fancy. The All-pervading am I. Everywhere I exist,Yet I am beyond the senses. Neither salvation am I,Nor anything to be known. I am chidanand(permanent pleasure)roopam Shiva and shiva only Under this status any impression is possible? When a person gets confirmed by this knowledge, he does his work properly but doesnt get flown away with the thought and mental involvement, since he is not mind nor intelligence.THis atman is beyond the material senses and the understanding should be deep,so that the sankhya becomes yoga. This is the status of nirodham of chittavruttis, as Lord Shri Patanjali said, and repeated by Lord Shri Krishna in different words. > --- Baba ji <beirut_ka_baba wrote: >
