Banda Bairagi – Example of a real Tantrik who fought for the truth> >Banda

Bairagi, ran away from his home at the age of 9 and wandered here and there to

quench his spiritual thirst. He trained himself in yoga, and many other types

of sadhnas and finally he met a guru, who saw his potentials and initiated him

into Tantra. Banda Bairagi made very fast progress in Tantra and soon he got

many siddhis. When his guru died, he became head of the ashram in Nanded

(Maharashtra). Banda Bairagi became very proud and any saint coming to Nanded

would be insulted by him. He used his siddhis to torture other saints.

Everybody in the city was afraid of him. > > There in Punjab the Moghuls

were troubling the Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh fought with the Moguls and tried to

save his land. The Muslim ruler of Sirhind state caught hold of two young

children of Guru Gobind Singh and buried them alive in a wall. The other two

sons of the guru were also killed by the Moguls. Defeated guru Gobind Singh

secretly left Punjab. In the way his disciples asked him where he was heading

to."Nanded" was the smiling reply of Guru Gobind Singh. His advisors forbade

him to go there, as there lived a defamed Tantrik who may insult guru too. But

Gobind Singh insisted on going there and meet him.> > When Guru Gobind Singh

reached the Ashram of Banda Bairagi, he had gone out. Guruji asked his

disciples to take rest and he himself sat on the throne of Banda Bairagi and

started waiting for him. when Banda Bairagi saw a man sitting on his throne, he

burnt with anger and cried at him," who are you? and why are you sitting on my

throne…don't you know who I am?" > > Guru ji smiled and said nothing.

Banda Bairagi used his siddhis to burn guruji…but all his powers and siddhis did

not work on Guru Gobind Singh. He then fell on the feet of Guruji and told," So

you are the master who my guru said would come to me one day….i was troubling

all saints just to see if they have any powers not really to insult them. I now

know that you have come to show me the way to liberation as my guru predicted.>

>Guru Gobind Singhji told him about the barbarious activities of Moguls in

Punjab and about his children's murders. Banda Bairagi told ," I am a

Sanyasi…..i have renounced the world…what can I do in this matter.>

>Gobindsinghji told him," Sanyasi does not mean…he can be neutral in the hour of

need for the society. You have to savePunjab from Muslim invaders and take

revenge for Guru's children…..this is your way to Moksha.> > Banda Bairagi at

once left the Ashram with his disciples and reached Punjab and tried to gather

sikh's army for the fight. He used his Tantrik powers and wrote a letter to the

Mogul king Bahadur Shah asking him the reasons for his tyranny.> > It is

said that when the Mogul King wrote that letter, he became mad and died later on

the asylum, a painful death.> > Then Banda Bairagi attacked Sirhind where

guru's children were buried alive. The ruler of sirhind died with his army. It

is said that Moguls were very afraid of the small army of Banda Bairagi….as it

would disappear altogether after and before the attack.> > So with the help

of his Tantrik powers and siddhis he finally liberated Punjab from muslims.> >

He got married to a local girl and got 2 children and started serving the people

of Punjab. But the Moguls struck again and through some traitors, they managed

to arrest him.> > Banda Bairagi was asked to denounce Hinduism and embrace

Islam otherwise he would be killed. Banda Bairagi laughed and refused. Then

his son was brought before him…butchered and his little heart was put into the

mouth of Bairagi…but he still laughed and told the king," I am not this body…you

can torture and finish this body but not ME.> > Bairagi was tortured

brutally. His both eyes were taken out. His skin was removed brutally from his

body…and then they cut him into pieces. He kept cool and remained in a

Hathayoga Posture….chanting the name of God….and finally he died.> >
