zuklAmbaradharaM viSNuM zazivarNaM chaturbhujam

prasannavadanaM dhyAyet sarvavighnopa zAntaye

Lord Ganesha, who wears a white garment,

who is all-pervading, who has a bright

complexion of the moon, who has four arms,

who has an ever smiling face, upon that Lord, let us

meditate for success and removal of all kinds of obstacles.

yat pAda pallavayugaM vinidhAya kumbha

vighnAn vihantum alam asya jagat trayasya

govindam Adi puruSaM tamahaM bhajAmi

- Sri Brahma Samhitam. 50

I adore my primeval Lord Govinda, Whose

newly-sprout leaf-like tender feet

are held as adornments by Lord Ganesha

upon the pair of tumuli protruding from

his elephant head while prostrating and

thus forming the auspicious 'kalasha'

to destroy all the obstacles on the

path of progress in the three worlds.

Jai Ganesha! Jai Ganesha Deva!

Mata Jaaki Parvati Pita Mahadeva!

Jaya Sri Radhey!

Namaste.

On this auspicious Ganesh Caturthi, I like to glorify

Ganeshji through the 'pada-kirtana' of Saint Sri Tuasidas:

gaayeeye ganapati jaga vandana,

shankara suvana bhavaani nandana,

siddhi sadana gaja vadana vinaayaka

kripaa sindhu sundara saba laayaka

modakapriya muda mangala daata

vidyaa vaaridhi buddhi vidhaata!

maangata tulasidaasa kara jore,

basahim raama-siya maanasa more!!

Let us sing homage unto the world-adored

beloved child of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati devi.

He is the treasure house of all perfections and

the ocean of Grace. The supremely benevolent Lord

Vinayaka has an attractive face of the majestic elephant.

He is very fond of 'modaka',

the dumplings made of rice flour,

and the giver of joy and auspiciousness.

Lord Ganesh is the ocean of knowledge

as well as the origin of wisdom.

Saint Tulasidas with folded hands fervently prays

to Lord Ganesh for the kind blessing that his

Beloved Ramacandra along with His consort Sita devi

may RESIDE forever in his heart!!

Jai Ganesha! Jai Ganesha Deva!

Mata Jaaki Parvati Pita Mahadeva!

Glory to Sri Ganeshji whose eternal Father is

Lord Shiva and Divine Mother is Devi Parvati.

Jaya Sri Radhey!
