Guest guest
31st July 2005 - The Philippines Purity and cleanliness One special point that has touched Dadi very much is that when there is purity there can be peace. Purity is the mother, peace and happiness the children. Look at yourself and see to what extent you have brought purity into your life. Not the type of purity of sannyas but the type of purity of the deities. Deities are usually kept inside temples. Even one who worships their idols is expected to be pure. They can only glimpse the deities from outside, they cannot go inside. God is making us into very pure and worship-worthy souls. Ask yourself; do I have such level of purity? People think to practice celibacy is to be pure. However, we are learning the depth of purity. To even remember someone's name is a form of impurity. To remember your past is impurity. If I have even the slightest thought of the past, it will carry me to the past and not allow me to be fully in the present. One type of impurity is to remember the past and another is to have thoughts of others in the present. If you have even the slightest waste about others, you will experience suffering in the sense that you will not experience, peace, power and happiness. Why not? Because when there are too many thoughts of wasteful things you use up all your energy. In fact, it is the different types of impurity that create tiredness. Impurity is such that it does not allow you to accumulate energy. There is often such tiredness that it doesn't allow you to remember God. Such souls will be able to talk to each other easily but when it comes to remembering God they feel tired. They feel tired in meditation but they never feel tired when eating. Think about why this is. People become tired with many aspects; they become tired with their own nature, they become tired of being discontent. Or sometimes, there is the feeling of not being able to do something or that others are demanding a lot from me. What will the face of someone who asks; why, why, look like? The question is; what is the seed that is making you tired? Actually, it is purity that really transforms the soul. Focus on God and see how much purity comes in front of you. If someone gives you sorrow and you feel that sorrow it is as if you have forgotten what peace is. Why did you feel sorrow actually? It is because of impurity. Now we have to pay attention not to let even little things that are like mosquitoes make us impure. Dadi says our bodies are so sensitive nowadays that even a mosquito or bee bite takes time to heal. That is why God has told us from the beginning that there should always be cleanliness. Not only cleanliness in the mind but everywhere - in the kitchen, in the bedroom. Actually, cleanliness in each and every aspect helps to maintain purity. Not just cleanliness by itself but honesty and cleanliness. The one who is honest does not turn things around. They don't know how to turn things around. They won't do anything just for the sake of doing it. Purity makes us accurate. Whatever task you do, do it with love. This is also considered as a type of cleanliness. The Sikh scriptures say; the one whose heart is clean, is the one who understands God's versions. Why does anyone close their eyes when listening to the God’s Words? Because the heart is not clean. There is lack of cleanliness. Always remember that in my present moment, this moment - right now, my future is merged. Let me be very pure in the present. God tells us that we souls, His children, have to become very pure before we return. God brings us this purity, now learn to bring that into your practical life so that, when the time comes, you can go back home with Him.
