Her husband is a poor labourer and they make both the ends meet with difficulty. Imrana's father in law an old man around 60 was also living with them. So when his son went out for work, he started harassing his daughter in law Imarana and finally managed to rape her and this continued for more than a year. Imarana was very much afraid of her father in law, so kept quiet but one day she gathered courage and told her husband about his father's misdeeds. Her husband went to the local Panchayat (a local body who work as court in villages) this is happening in Muzaffar Nagar 70 Kms from Delhi in UP The Panchayat of Muslims, gave a light punishement to the old man and ruled that Now Imrana is mother of her husband so they cant live together !! Imrana did not accept the verdict and took the matter to police, who arrested the old casanova, but refused to interfer in religious matters. The whole village pressurised Imrana's husband to divorce her...but they refused and took the matter to Dar-ul-Devband, the highest religious seat of Indian muslims. Dar-ul also confirmed that as per islamic law, imarana is now mother to her husband and he should divorce her. Poor imarana is in fix, police not to help her, and all around her asking her to consider her husband as her son. she is only asking What is my fault that i brought the rape case to the public, to punish the rapist or the victim. The poor couple is being pressurised by all Maulavis and by their own relatives to accept the verdict and separate. Government of no Help because we are a SECULAR (?) country and do not interfere in religious matters. What is this religion and what is their philosophy? Is it what the Jehadis planning to convert the whole world into ? Recently a Fatwa was issued in Saudi that driving by women is against islam. In kashmir if a girl wears jeans, she is labelled anti islamic and is properly punished by killing or throwing acid on her face !
