Namaste all.

Guru Purnima (July 21, 2005) is fast approaching.

It is also known as 'Vyasa Purnima' to honor the original Guru

of all the Acaryas of diffrent traditional paramparas.

A prayer of beautiful Sanskrit verses to

Maharshi Krishna Dvaipayana Vyasa from

the invocaion of Bhagavad Gita:

namostu te vyAsa vizAlabuddhe

phullAravindAyata patranetre |

yena tvayA bhArata tailapUrNaH

prajvalito jnAnamayaH pradIpaH ||

Salutations to thee, O Vyasa Maharshi, of mighty intellect

and with eyes large like the petals of a full-blown lotus,

who has lighted up the bright lamp of Divine wisdom,

from the Epic Mahabharata which is full of oil as fuel.

pArAzaryavacaHsarojam amalaM gItArtha gandhotkaTaM

nAnAkhyAnaka kesaraM hari kathA sambodhanA bodhitam |

loke sajjana SaTpadair aharahaH pepIyamAnaM mudA

bhUyAd bhArata paGkajaM kalimala pradhvaMsinaH zreyase ||

May the taintless lotus flower of the Mahabharata -

growing well on the waters of the sublime words of

Parasara Muni's son, having Gita as its strong sweet

fragrance, with many narrative comments as its stamens,

fully opened with the revealing discourses of (on) Sri Hari,

and drunk joyously day after day by the honey bees like

pure-hearted souls in the world - produce supreme good

to all, eagerly destroying the impurities of the age of Kali!

Jaya Sri Radhey!
