Guest guest
In the Oxford Pocket Dictionary we read the following explanation for the word "ego" 1 the self; the part of the mind that reacts to reality and has a sense of individuality. 2 self-esteem; self-conceit To begin, The ego of mine("ego" then "mine"?? Double ego??) will take the 1st explanation the "sense of individuality" thing. When we say that we have to kill our ego, that must mean that we have to lose our sense of individuality,we have to say to the Lord "thy will be done" , "may our will be united with thy will". All these are really easy to say.let us try to simulate it in a real life scenario. We are sitting, meditating at the feet of he almighty, surrendering our ego to him.We begin to sink and sink...and then a fly comes and buzzes in our surrendered ears. And here the same ego that we tought that we killed him, forces us strongly to kill the fly instead of him..... the ego of mine knows that this was a very stupid scenario, but what he meant was that even the smallest thing can take us away from surrendering our egos to God.What About the bigger and bigger things that happen in life, the daily life, out of meditation and prayer. in the following paragraph the ego will use the word "almost impossible" because he belives that impossibility is impossible. this ego of mine, believes that it is almost impossible in daily life,to kill the ego or to surrender it to god 24/7.The flies of the life are always there.the BIG BIG flies.and come on, you can't kill them all, even it is not allowed for you to kill them, they come from the same creator, don't they?? Please, this is no offense to anyone, it is just some tries of realistism. any comment will be apreciated. nice ego hunt Love

IMHO, ego is nothing but an apparent understanding of the mind at a certain consciousness levels. When we trascend these common levels and go beyond mind....we can see the utility and futility of this arrangement of understanding which we call ego. Perhaps Nama sivam is right....ego cant be killed but i'd like to add..we cant kill ego but we can transcend it love baba
